The Mandalorian has become one of the hottest Star Wars property in recent years, especially after the fairly forgettable trilogy with Rey Skywalker in the lead. Created by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, The Mandalorian has restored the legacy of George Lucas’ original trilogy, with a staggering 93% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Starring Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin/The Mandalorian, The Mandalorian follows the adventures of the lone bounty hunter and the Child, or more commonly known as Baby Yoda. Mando’s paternal feelings for Baby Yoda has received widespread acclaim, as the duo face numerous obstacles on their way. After the grand revelation in the first season finale, Mando faces an even greater threat from the nefarious Moff Gideon, a former high-ranking officer of the Empire.
Unlike most Star Wars property, The Mandalorian has taken a vastly different approach. The bold approach taken by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, fortunately, paid off as the show has become one of the most-watched shows upon its release. Instead of mostly focusing on the Skywalker family and the Order of the Jedi, The Mandalorian adopted a cowboy bounty-hunting style of a lone warrior and his quest to reunite the Child with its own kind.

However, the second season of The Mandalorian has now delved deeper into the Star Wars lore right from the first episode. From Boba Fett’s return to giant ice-spiders, The Mandalorian is rapidly integrating itself with the larger universe, along with some occasional fan service. But most importantly, the second season of the show has finally acknowledged probably the most underrated yet critical part of the Star Wars franchise; Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
In the latest episode Chapter 11: The Heiress, Din Djarin and Baby Yoda find some unlikely allies in their quest to find the Jedi. Directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, The Heiress introduces a few other surviving Mandalorians. But most importantly, it introduces Bo-Katan Kryze, played by Katee Sackhoff, a major character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Who is Bo-Katan Kryze?
In The Mandalorian, fans were introduced to the Death Watch, the last surviving Mandalorians after the Great Purge on Mandalore. Bo-Katan Kryze is a former lieutenant of the Death Watch, a radical group of Mandalorians who believe in restoring the fearsome and martial rule of Mandalorians. Bo-Katan Kryze is the sister of Satine Kryze, who once used to be the Duchess of Mandalore and believed in a pacifistic rule.

Due to their clashing ideologies, Bo-Katan joined the Death Watch to try and restore the ancient ways of the Mandalorians. However, the radical group was soon banished from Mandalore for their violent ideologies.
To accomplish their coup, the Death Watch made an unlikely alliance with Darth Maul and Savage Opress. With the SIth Lords, they formed the Shadow Collective to seize power from Satine Kryze. In a turn of events, Bo-Katan turned against Darth Maul so that Pre Viszla could become the ruler of Mandalore. However, Darth Maul soon broke free along with Savage Opress and asked for a lightsaber duel with Pre Viszla, according to Mandalorian traditions. Unfortunately, Pre Viszla was defeated by the powerful Sith Lord, resulting in losing the famed Darksaber to Darth Maul.
Denying to accept that a Sith Lord would be ruling over Mandalore, Bo-Katan released Satine from prison in a series of attacks. However, they were soon spotted by the dangerous Mandalorian Super Commandos, who were loyal to Darth Maul. But fortunately, Obi-Wan Kenobi came to their aid. The presence of the Jedi Master helped Bo-Katan escape, but at the cost of Satine’s life.
After the events of the Clone Wars, Bo-Katan finally had the Darksaber in her possession, making her the rightful ruler of Mandalore. However, the rule did not last for long as the Empire considered the Mandalorians to be a threat that could not be controlled, thus resulting in the Great Purge that wiped out most of the members of this warrior creed.
As one of the major characters from the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars series, Bo-Katan Kryze’s arrival in The Mandalorian will finally be able to integrate the show into the much larger and interesting Star Wars lore. And with Bo-Katan’s arrival, it’s only a matter of time before the former Jedi Ahsoka Tano makes her appearance, as Din Djarin and Baby Yoda will soon seek her out in the coming episodes.

Earlier, the rumors of Rosario Dawson portraying the role of Ahsoka Tano were widely discussed. But now, it is pretty much confirmed that the actress will make her appearance as the charismatic leader in The Mandalorian. But most importantly, the addition of another vital Mandalorian to the show has shaken up Din Djarin’s belief, which will make the story much more interesting. This is the way.
