While the Fantastic Beasts star’s breakout role was in 2011’s psychological thriller We Need to Talk About Kevin and 2012’s The Perks of Being A Wallflower, most fans recognize Miller as the titular hero from DC’s The Flash. However, the actor started headlining the news for the wrong reasons in 2022 after being arrested for charges of disorderly conduct and harassment.

Ezra Miller Shares Favorite Style Icon From The Silent Film Era

In a video interview via GQ, Ezra Miller, whose pronouns are they/them, talked about their top 5 fashion heroes and discussed what they liked about the century and the style icons. While the actor raved about the likes of Oscar Wilde and Jessica Rabbit, Miller particularly praised Buster Keaton for his unique sense of style and personality:

Moving forward to the common era or into the last century, Buster Keaton. You know they say fashion, what sells the fashion is the face, that’s what someone told me of the saying in Korea. Buster Keaton was the hardcore ultimate deadpan guy, he would just do the [imitates Buster Keaton’s facial expression], you know, which can really sell any look.”

Buster Keaton was an American actor born in 1895 and was famous for his silent films and stoic, deadpan expression. Because of this, he was nicknamed The Great Stone Face. Miller continued discussing Keaton’s look in one of his movies:

The General, one of the greatest movies of all time, lots of looks served up. I love Buster Keaton’s hat game, calling out what did I keep trying to get more Buster Keaton hat game into the credence looks. They usually end up getting cut out of the film, often with the note that they look too cool.”

Miller seems to be a fan of the amalgamation of vintage and modern fashion pieces mixed with a touch of bizarre. The actor once told the outlet that they have a gender-blind taste in clothing, which is evident when you flip through Miller’s photos during movie premieres and gala nights.

A lot of fans find Ezra Miller’s style difficult to understand. While that’s a statement in itself, the actor believes in not explaining themselves when it comes to fashion or even the image they project. Sharing in an interview with GQ, the Busted Walk star said:

I am clandestine. People do not understand me. I don’t intend them to, right? I want a certain amount of confusion, and I’m comfortable sharing that. I have plans that not a soul, even in my closest spheres, know of. I mean, I tell stories in a lot of ways.”

Just like Buster Keaton’s iconic sense of fashion, Ezra Miller takes inspiration from the actor’s unique self-expression (pun intended) and creates a look that is entirely their own and revealing of their true personality.
