Starting in 2014, The Flash had a successful run for eight seasons on CW. Last August, news broke out that the next season of the show will be the last and the shortest season so far. The 13-episode season is set to premiere this week, and fans are excitedly waiting to see Grant Gustin as Barry Allen. And the showrunner, Eric Wallace, has shared some interesting things about the last season of the CW show. Wallace has also shared what the show’s final season has in store for Barry and Iris.
The Flash Season 9 Would Bring Barry and Iris Together
Eric Wallace opened up about the next and the final season of The Flash during an interview with TVLine. The showrunner shared that they wanted to reward the fans of the show with a positive ending. “My mission statement is to reward the audience with things that I know they have been asking for and looking forward to,” he said.
He also said that he would be ending the show on a “really positive, high note” for Grant Gustin’s Scarlet Speedster. Wallace further said that he wants fans to be “emotionally” strong as The Flash season 9 would be “upping the romance between Barry and Iris.”
He shared that the couple had been on separate journeys for the last few seasons. Eric Wallace also shared that the couple was earlier separated “to build their characters.” He shared that both of them have grown a lot as a superhero and as a journalist.
Although fans have been sad over the fact that the show would come to an end with its upcoming season, Wallace’s comment could come as a breather for them, and they can expect a positive ending for the DC superhero. The showrunner also shared some other details about The Flash season 9.
The Flash Season 9 Could Bring Back Some Old Characters
In his recent interview with TVLine, Eric Wallace also shared that fans could expect to see some old characters coming back in The Flash season 9. Sharing that the last season has some surprises in store for fans, he said “a few old faces returning here and there.”
Eric Wallace also shared that the last season would address some of the unresolved subjects from the previous seasons of the show. He said, “You’re going to see a lot of nods to Season 1, and a lot of things that were never resolved now get resolved.” Wallace’s statements seem to suggest that the show will have a bit of everything, including some superhero action and some rom-com.
The Flash Season 9 will premiere on 8 February 2023 on CW.
