Black Noir became a fan-favorite after his initial appearance as a villain in the initial seasons of The Boys to an anti-villain arc in the latest season. After a very limited presence in the first 2 seasons, the silent, enigmatic, and stealthy member of the Seven finally got his time to shine.
After the anti-climatic death of the darkly costumed superhero at the hands of Anthony star’s Homelander, it seems the journey of the stoic assassin isn’t over as The Boy’s actor Nathan Mitchell shared some new light on the return of the character in the upcoming season.

Nathan Mitchell is set to reprise the role of Black Noir in season 4
After the death of Black Noir in season 3, the actor Nathan Mitchell is set to appear in The Boys season 4 but in a more diverging direction than the predecessor. After the confirmation, the actor opened up to the idea of playing a new version of the superhero who may not share the same stoic and serious persona from the earlier seasons. In an interview with The Movie Dweeb, Nathan Mitchell went on to state,
“If we were going to play and remix the character, I think that everyone’s seen a very stoic version of Black Noir, so if they were going to do something new, I think it would be fun to go in the opposite direction.”
After the arousing finale of season 3, it is confirmed that the mute assassin isn’t done with the show. Even considering his ruthless killer instincts and brutality, Noir has displayed a great deal of solicitude for innocent lives which adds another dimension to his character.
Nathan Mitchell will not play the same character under the Black Noir costume
In most scenarios when characters die in The Boys, they are gone for good. But in Black Noir’s case, it might be quite different. After initially confirming the return of Black Noir in season 4 of The Boys, fans were excited but a bit confused regarding the death of the character at the end of season 3. But it seems to have a feasible answer, as the character under the suit is not going to return but instead, another version will take the mantle.
It’s understandable as no one has ever seen the character before or heard him speak, so it’d be quite comfortable to just pass the mantle of Black Noir, with Nathan Mitchell playing a different character under the costume. During an interview, Eric Kripke went on to express this idea by saying,
“Here’s what I’ll say without spoiling anything, which is that particular individual who is Black Noir is dead, His organs are out all over the place, but when you have a completely silent, completely masked-clad hero, they’re reasonably easy to recast.”
As nothing has been confirmed yet about who will be the person under the suit, the original Black Noir may not return while the mantle of Black Noir will be passed on to another character, which Mitchell will be playing under the suit in the upcoming series.
No potential release date for The boy’s season 4 has been made official.
