5. The French Dispatch for Best Picture

Wes Anderson is arguably one of the greatest filmmakers of our generation who has reinvented the world of filmmaking with his distinct style akin to an auteur. His rich detailing and obsession with symmetry make his films a treat for the eyes. While the ace filmmaker has previously won multiple Oscar nominations, The French Dispatch failed to win nominations in any category, thus becoming one of the biggest Oscar Snubs of 2022.

Directed by David Lowery, The Green Knight is a milestone in adapting a historical poem on screen. 3. Aaron Sorkin (Best Director) for Being the Ricardos

The biographical drama directed by Aaron Sorkin is based on the story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, played by Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem respectively. While both Kidman and Bardem have been nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress, along with J.K. Simmons landing a nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category, director Aaron Sorkin was left out from the Best Director category. His recent portrayal of a parent who has lost his child to gun violence in a school shooting is easily one of the best yet underrated performances of the year. Mass is a harrowing drama revolving around the gun violence in the United States that has taken numerous innocent lives. Despite its simple premise, Mass is an intense movie that demands a lot from its audience that only became possible due to the impeccable acting performances by the actors. But unfortunately, Jason Isaacs insanely evocative performance as a grieving father failed to land any nomination, thus becoming one of the most upsetting Oscar Snubs of the year.
