Ryan Reynolds Initially Wanted to Do a Different Voice

Actor Ryan Reynolds featured as the voice of the animated character Pikachu in 2019’s film, Detective Pikachu. Helmed by Rob Letterman, the film is based on the Pokémon franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri.

Ryan Reynolds once admitted he attempted to bring a new voice to Pikachu. The studio, on the other hand, had absolutely no interest in his notion.

He explained that his original idea for the detective electric mouse’s voice was a “film noir” style approach. It would be like “Who Framed Roger Rabbit had a baby with Blade Runner,” said Reynolds.

But apparently, the film’s producers were less keen on the idea. The actor said they advised, “Or maybe just do Ryan Reynolds … Maybe shut up and do the other thing.

They’re like just do Ryan Reynolds okay that’s that’s what we’re paying you for it.”

While audiences eagerly anticipate his next projects, it’s certain that Reynolds will continue to surprise, amuse, and inspire, bringing his distinct flair to every role he takes on

He Lived the Detective Pikachu Character

Method acting, a technique where an actor delves deep into a character’s emotional and psychological aspects, is not a new concept in the world of acting. Many actors employ this approach to connect more authentically with the characters they portray, but Reynolds takes it to a whole new level. He invests time, energy, and emotion into each role, striving to understand the motivations, quirks, and intricacies of his characters.

I lived it, I breathed it, I became the character, I spent the entire year as Detective Pikachu,” Reynolds said.

“Now as many of you know, I vanish into my roles,” Reynolds continued. “I was on my way to pick up my daughters from school when I heard that I got the role. Well, I didn’t show up at school, because Detective Pikachu, doesn’t know who those girls are. Who are they?”

He didn’t even change his voice,” Reynolds’ real-world wife, actress Blake Lively said. “It just sounds like him.”

Reynolds claims he lived as Detective Pikachu’s 1-foot tall height and tried to lose 182 pounds before doctors intervened.
