There have been many demands for extended cuts, director’s cuts, and original cuts of movies, with Rogue One being no exception to that. The movie initially did not do as well as fans or anyone involved would have hoped for. There was a lot it lacked and that tampered with the possibility of perhaps one of the most gripping stories the franchise would have ever presented to the audience.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story may have introduced the characters of Cassian Andor and K-2SO, who immediately became fan favorites before meeting their untimely fate. However, that did lead to a spin-off series loved by everyone. Unfortunately, the story that got left behind quickly led fans to believe that perhaps there would be a better version of the movie that exists.

Rogue One Does Not Have A Better Version
In terms of critic reviews, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story met a fate similar to that of Justice League. The movie had a lot of wasted potential, all being swallowed by an average to below-average movie, that failed to wow an audience. While Diego Luna’s Andor shined more than anyone else in the movie, he was not the protagonist. But Felicity Jones’s Jyn Erso was unable to reach the fans in the way she would have liked.
“Uh, no. That was the absolute best possible version you could ever have. Oh my God. No. No.”
While Joss Whedon’s Justice League managed to get a better version released with Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the same will not be the case for this movie. Tony Gilroy had taken over the reshoots much like how Whedon had stepped up after Snyder’s departure. There was a lot that was changed within the movie. However, Gilroy has confirmed that the version fans got was indeed the best version of the movie and other edits can not top it off.
A Lot Of Last-Minute Changes Were Made In The Movie
While trailers and snippets of the movie had shown various captivating scenes that had attracted the audience in the first place, they never made it into the final edit. The antagonist of Rogue One, Orson Krennic, was played by Ben Mendelsohn. The actor stated that the movie had undergone massive changes that completely changed the direction in which the story had been going.
“There were enormous differences within, I would’ve said, 20 or 30 of the scenes. There would be enormously different renderings.”
Although Cassian Andor saw a story beyond the limiting movie, the series will also be concluding after its second season. Unlike the movie, Andor is exceptionally loved by the fans and the support it has gotten is mesmerizing.
