Blue Beetle was surprisingly under a lot of flak before its release. Being labeled as a Marvel copy of DC’s Spider-Man, things weren’t looking good for the movie. Not only did certain groups of people vow never to see the movie, but also it was expected to meet the same fate as The Flash.
Fortunately for DC and James Gunn, the movie has been doing pretty well and has also dethroned the box office’s last champion, Barbie. Not only do the fans love the characters, storylines, and action scenes, but also the end credit scene, which has seemingly left everyone confused. The director Angel Manuel Soto has revealed some exciting details.
SPOILER ALERT!
Angel Manuel Soto On Blue Beetle Post Credit Scene
Blue Beetle made history as it gave people the first Latino superhero in the DC verse with their very own stand-alone movie. Not only has it exceeded the expectations of the people, but the film has also been regarded as ‘fresh’, and a new take on the DC’s earlier darker storylines.
Among the many amazing scenes, one of the post-credit scenes has been catching a lot of attention, which shows Ted Kord is alive and well as he sends a computer message to his family. In an interview, Angel Manuel Soto stated,
“Ted Kord is alive. The whole movie, Ted Kord is in it without being in it. We have Jenny Kord who has this conflict with her sentiment about her father because he disappeared.”
With Kord still alive, DCU has a door of possibilities at its disposal, from introducing new characters to unraveling further mysteries in the storyline. Among these many possibilities, fans can’t help but wonder if Booster Gold would be coming on the big screen as well. And Soto has given a potential hint.
Blue Beetle Director On Potential Booster Gold Entrance
Booster Gold is a fan favorite who also happens to be more than a good friend to Blue Beetle. With Ted Kord alive, there is a possibility that he might be lost in time with Booster Gold since the latter is also a time traveler. Now as fans wonder whether they will get to see their fantastic friendship on the silver screen, Soto stated there might be a possibility.
“We all love Ted Kord and Booster Gold, and knowing that James Gunn also has plans for Booster Gold, it felt like the right thing for us to continue with. Ted Kord is still alive, he’s somewhere out there in the universe, and whatever the future holds for our hero is open to interpretation. So, whether that is Booster Gold or Ted Kord or if it is both of them [together], the possibility exists and it is something that we want to entertain.”
While no sequel has been confirmed and nor has an explanation of where Blue Beetle fits into James Gunn‘s DCU timeline, fans remain hopeful that they would potentially get to see both characters on-screen together sometime soon.
Blue Beetle is in theatres now.
