A24’s recent film Talk To Me became a commercial and critical success within a short span. The supernatural horror film is directed by popular YouTubers, Danny and Michael Philippou. The duo is famous for their YouTube channel, RackaRacka, on which they have made short films like Marvel vs. DC, Demonic Pikachu, Star Wars in Public, etc. The twin brothers have made their directorial debut with the film, which has already crossed $77 million, surpassing the gross of Michelle Yeoh’s Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Within only a few days of the release of Talk To Me, the film created a buzz on social media. It has already earned 17 times more than that original budget.
Talk To Me becomes the highest-grossing film of A24
Danny and Michael Philippou’s directorial debut Talk To Me is setting records within a few days of its release. The twins are known for hyper-violent stunts and a dark sense of humor in their projects. Their directorial film delves into dark themes of demonization and psychological horror. The film follows the lives of a group of teenagers who find out they can contact spirits with the help of a mysterious embalmed hand. However, things go haywire when one of them takes things too far.
The film has received positive reviews from critics for its story, horror sequences, practical effects, and performance of the cast. The star cast includes Sophie Wilde, Alexandra Jensen, Joe Bird, Otis Dhanji, Miranda Otto, Zoe Terakes, Chris Alosio, Marcus Johnson, and Alexandria Steffensen. The film was a commercial success and grossed $77 million worldwide against a shoestring budget of $4.5 million. The previous most successful film by A24 was Michelle Yeoh’s Everything Everywhere All at Once, which grossed $141 million against a budget of $25 million. It was 5.6 times the return on the budget.

Everything Everywhere All at Once is a 2022 film written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. They also produced the film along with the Russo brothers and Jonathan Wang. The movie wanders into numerous genres including absurdist fiction, comedy-drama, surreal comedy, science fiction, fantasy, martial arts films, immigrant narrative, and animation. Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh played the lead character of Evelyn Quan Wang. The supporting cast comprises Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jenny Slate, Harry Shum Jr., and James Hong.
As per the plot, Evelyn Quan Wang is a Chinese-American immigrant who gets audited by the IRS. During the process, she discovers that she needs to connect with parallel universe versions of herself to stop a powerful being from destroying the multiverse.
The film grossed over $141 million worldwide, which made it A24’s highest-grossing film before the release of Talk To Me. The film was critically acclaimed and became the most-awarded film of all time. It won seven awards out of eleven nominations at the 95th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actor.
