Stephen Amell quickly found himself knee-deep in trouble after he faced immense backlash on the controversial comment that he made on social media regarding the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. The Arrow actor’s comments were neither taken positively by the fans nor by his co-stars. Following the negative reaction, Amell stated that his comment came from a place of privilege and he did not mean to offend anyone.
The strikes are still in very much effect, as Hollywood has come to a standstill, with many important projects being delayed. The actor explained that looks at striking as “a reductive negotiating tactic, and I find the entire thing incredibly frustrating.” Negative comments started coming his way all over social media from fans and actors as they were surprised by his views about the strike.
After stating his controversial and anti-rhetoric, owning up to his words being “myopic” he spoke from an angle of financial security most actors lack. Amell reinstigated the fact, “My support for any guild strike is unconditional.” The actor thanked his Arrow co-stars for calling him out, as he was totally unaware of the problems being faced by other actors and writers. He vowed to amplify their voices in the future and looks like he kept his word, as Amell was on the frontline of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Amell learned about the struggles about other actors and writers face, and for the past week, he was in hot waters because of his ignorant comments about the strike that has halted the work in the movie industry.
However, he has realized his mistake and has been a part of the strike, as pictures surfaced online. The Code 8 actor joined the cause the same day as his Arrow co-stars and crew in LA.
Even though Amell tried to make up for his last week’s comments, fans soon went to Twitter giving negative and sarcastic reactions to the actor joining the cause.
