“Spare me this newfound outrage”: She-Hulk Writer Draws Blood, Compares Robert Downey Jr. Iron Man Pole Dancing Scene With Infamous Twerk

She-hulk’s hate train has been over the moon since the release of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law in the latter half of this year, with thousands pointing out diverging reasons, some being reasonable and valid while others being outright ludicrous.

As the tantrum amongst fans seemed to die down for a while, the She-hulk author Dan Slott has reignited the fire again and is hellbent on calling out fans for denouncing the show while not shying away from defending Jennifer Walters by pulling different tropes out of his sleeve and it appears the guy isn’t in the mood to budge from his ground with his recent bold analogy regarding the most controversial scene in the TV show.

She-Hulk writer analogizes the twerking scene with the pole dance sequence from Iron Man

Considering many ill factors which gave the show a sour taste among the audience, one was its controversial twerk scene that Jennifer Walters and Megan Thee Stallion performed in the post-credit scene of episode 3 which consequently led many fans to a state of exasperation, leading to outbursts all over the internet. After months of the initial outbreak, the She-hulk writer Dan Slott seems to draw some new blood as he went on to defend distinct aspects of the show and took a bold stride while running an analogy of the twerking scene from she-hulk with the founding father of the MCU realm, Iron man’s pole dance scene in Tony’s private jet.

People are upset over She-Hulk twerking for fun with a celebrity that *she* liked… …somehow have NO problem with Tony Stark having a stripper pole in his private jet in IRON MAN 1…. with women Tony Stark was paying to dance for *his* pleasure. Spare me this newfound outrage.

The analogy between the two doesn’t work

Even though the colossal eruption against the scene went way out of proportion and didn’t deserve the treatment it garnered, comparing it with the pole dance sequence that partakes in the private jet of Tony in Iron man doesn’t sit right considering its various facets.

In Ironman Tony starts his voyage to redemption as a self-absorbed cocky billionaire, who only cares about himself and his survival, and doesn’t contemplate in regards to the ramifications of his action. So seeing the arm-dealing playboy paying other women to dance in his private jet for his pleasure perfectly showcases his character at the point who is a jerk with no redeeming qualities, ultimately making the character growth throughout the movie more impactful, in contrast with she-hulk’s twerk scene which serves no purpose in the actual plot or character growth and is more of a joke which doesn’t land for a bunch of fans.

While the twerking scene was kind of unnecessary but the hatred toward it was kind of redundant. The scene indeed didn’t serve any sort of purpose in the grand line of schemes, with characters mostly being goofy while having fun, so hating the whole show because of that particular joke that didn’t sit is kind of irrational, which is equivalent of hating a 2-hour movie just for one bad joke.
