In 2020, Chris Hemsworth starred in Sam Hargrave’s Extraction. While there are mixed reviews about the movie, Hemsworth’s performance was something everyone praised. The actor played the role of an Australian black ops mercenary, Tyler Rake, who is assigned to rescue an Indian crime lord’s kidnapped son in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The sequel of the movie is all set to release on 16th June 2023 and the filming of the movie has been quite adventurous for Hemsworth as he was set on fire 8 times for an action sequence.

Extraction 2 is all set to release in less than 10 days and actor Chris Hemsworth is on fire (quite literally). The director of the movie previously revealed in an interview,

“I’ve never come across a challenge that he wasn’t up for. When I pitched that to him – actually setting him on fire, not doing it via CGI – he kind of looked at me sideways, smiled, and said, ‘Sounds awesome mate.'”

It is no secret that Hemsworth is always up for a challenge. We got to see a lot of action in Extraction and in some of his past movies like 12 Strong (2018) and In the Heart of the Sea (2015).

Chris Hemsworth and Sam Hargrave talked about the scene, a glimpse of which can also be seen in the official teaser and trailer, at a press conference in Manila. During the interview, Hargrave revealed that Hemsworth was set on fire 8 times and joked that he “enjoyed lighting Chris Hemsworth on fire” and that it “was the most rewarding part.

Not only Hemsworth but many other stunt actors on the set were set on fire. The 39-year-old actor was asked about his favorite moment of the particular scene and he joked, “Completion.

Obviously, the scene wasn’t filmed in one go, several cuts were made. Last month, Hargrave explained in an interview,

“We build in certain stitch points where we could but in those broken-up pieces you still have sequences that will be between 30 seconds and a minute-and-a-half. Sometimes there are 50, 60. 75 moves in a row with dozens of stunt performers. And it was at night, in the middle of winter. Chris had red ears and a red nose because he was freezing.”

The action-packed Extraction 2, written by Joe Russo, is all set to release on Netflix on 16th June 2023.
