Michael B. Jordan has been in the Hollywood industry for quite some time now. His career started off at a very young age and he has since been climbing the ladder of success. He is a highly loved and respected actor who has some of the most iconic roles in his bag. Not only is he a great actor but also a wonderful director.
The world of cinema has known Jordan since he first appeared in The Wire. His significance in the show was one many can never forget and it gave him the boost he needed to rise in the industry. Despite his passion being shown throughout the course of his stay, there was one scene in particular that was too brutal.
Michael B. Jordan’s Character’s Death Was Too Much
Michael B. Jordan played an integral role in the first season of The Wire. Although initially many could not understand what was so special about his character until the story gradually progressed. It wasn’t until the end of his work that things got rather dark on set. People loved working with him and his final sequence was painful to shoot.
“Look, Mike, we love you, everybody loves you, but that’s exactly why we have to kill you.”
His character was to be killed off. Something that was extremely painful for not only the viewers but also those who were involved in the making of the show as well. His co-stars and the crew members were all heartbroken upon learning that his character’s death was an integral moment in the show. Wallace, the character that Jordan played, was a mere child who got into some bad stuff. After he got accused of being a mole, the child was to be killed off. It was not an easy task but one that was necessary. However, he was still just a minor.
Michael B. Jordan’s Mother Could Not Take It
Although it was a scene of fiction, seeing one’s child being shot to death again and again is no easy sight. It was not for Michael B. Jordan’s mother either. The death was not ordinary either. Jordan’s character was begging for his life as his own friends shot at him. The actor could hear his mother crying from the outside.
“I remember my mom being on set, she’s in Video Village and you could just hear her sobbing and crying and stuff like that. It was pretty distracting. I’m like, ‘Ma … Somebody, please just take her off set.’ But it was a good time, looking back at it.”
Jordan asked for his mother to be removed from the set, understanding just how painful it must have been for her. He also added that the entire thing was rather distracting as well. He could not focus on his mother and the shot at the same time. As a minor, having his mother be on set was very normal. However, for that one instance, it was better for her to not be there at all.
