While Jensen Ackles has already two iconic roles in his career, it looks like he could have added another role in his iconic career, as it has been believed that the Big Sky actor had once auditioned for Chris Evans’ Captain America role. Either way, fans would have had a great time, because, like Evans, Ackles can also play a strong, and noble superhero without any flashy superpowers.

Jensen Ackles Wishes To Have Auditioned For The Role of Captain America

For many years, it had been rumored that Jensen Ackles had auditioned for the role of Captain America, which ultimately went to Chris Evans in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For many years, this was believed to be a well-known fact, but during a sit-down interview with EW, the actor himself confirmed that he had never auditioned for the role of Captain America.

“Did I audition for Captain America? No, I did not. I don’t necessarily know, was that an auditioning kind of a thing? I feel like they just met with people on that.”

The Dawson’s Creek actor clarified that never “never got the opportunity to even talk to anybody” about the Captain America role because of his busy schedule with filming season 6 of Supernatural. However, he adds that he would love to audition for the role as back in the day, he and Evans used to compete for a number of things.

“I was not available, anyway. So, I don’t think they were going to work around my schedule. Doesn’t seem like a kind of property that would do that. I would’ve loved to have been in the mix on that because Chris [Evans] and I used to go against each other for quite a bit on a lot of different things back in the day. But, unfortunately, I didn’t get to fight him on that one.”

Well, it looks like Ackles has finally got the opportunity to play a similar role to Soldier Boy in The Boys, and he firmly believes that his Soldier Boy is anything but Captain America.

Jensen Ackles States The Major Difference Between Soldier Boy and Captain America

As fans of The Boys know in the world of the show, superheroes are not born but they are made by Vought by injecting a secret serum called Compound V. The serum grants superhuman abilities to people, and Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy is the first superhero created by Vought International. In the same interview with EW, the actor believes that even though people have found similarities between his Soldier Boy and Evans’ Captain America both are very different, calling him someone who drank with your inappropriate uncle.

“It’s Captain America on his a**. It’s as if Captain America gave up super-heroism and was just your drunk and inappropriate uncle.”

The Winchesters actor stated that both Soldier Boy is from the old school, who used to party with Hugh Hefner in the Playboy mansion and represent the toxic masculinity of our society.

He’s old school. He’s from an era that is being close to forgotten, a time passed. He was World War II. He partied with Hefner in the Playboy mansion. This was just a different type of character. And he certainly represents, I think, a lot of that toxic masculinity that is so deeply rooted in a lot of what our society feels.”

Regardless, viewers of the show love Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and they can not wait to see him in the upcoming season of The Boys.
