*Ring, Ring* What is your favourite survival horror game? Is it Silent Hill 2? If it were 2001, Silent Hill 2 would likely be your answer. Most horror gaming fans at the time, who enjoyed being freaked out by their PlayStation 2s (likely as children), were a bit masochistic enthralled to endure the dark mystery of haunting memories, terrifying monsters, and creepy utilized fog to keep you guessing and keeping the graphics at a par level.
The game is still highly praised and discussed online, and is considered the best of its series (I personally enjoyed The Room). Anyone who played Silent Hill 2 is guaranteed to have a few memories (or scars) engraved into their brains.
Silent Hill 2 did not have the same level of competition back then though. These days there are many beloved offerings of scary things bumping you off in the night. This includes the infamous trend of remakes making their way back to our screens. Naturally some of the most successful of these remakes being made from one of Silent Hill 2’s main competitors at the time, the Resident Evil series. Silent Hill 2 is ready to return and reclaim its crown though, being the most beloved of its own series. Blooper Team has been hard at work to put a Silent Hill 2 Remake on the horizon.
Silent Hill 2 Remake – A Return to Franchise Terror
Silent Hill 2 Remake was announced and is expected to come out this year, to the benefit of long time fans who have felt a drought of Silent Hill creepiness, and many interested new time players who couldn’t manage to find a copy of the original in their dad’s collection, awaiting to see what makes Silent Hill 2 so special. In 4K no less! To add to the hype and anticipation for Silent Hill 2 Remake’s release, a trusted source offered up an interesting tidbit of information about the game. When the curiousity about any changes that might be made to Silent Hill 2 Remake’s map arose, the source was able to confirm that the game’s map would be expanded, expecting it to be 100% larger than the original.

A bigger town of Silent Hill is no doubt a good indication of a longer playtime full of dark traumatizing hijinks with main protagonist James Sunderland in search of his supposedly missing wife, and more interactions with the series’ infamous horror antagonist Pyramid head. In theory this could take the average length of the original Silent Hill 2 from approximately 8 -15 hours to a potential 16-30 hours, though that may seem like wishful thinking.
If you are a fan of the Silent Hill series and are looking forward to playing the new Silent Hill 2 Remake, it is expected to release in just a few months on September 29 2023 for the PlayStation 5 and PC. Obviously release dates are liable to be delayed, but hopefully not in this case. I myself haven’t played Silent Hill since The Room (2004), and I’m finally over my nightmares.
