In a span of a few months, most of the Arrowverse has been canceled following their poor reception, and with The Flash coming to an end, the decade-long universe is set to rest for good. However, among all the mediocre and underwhelming releases, Superman & Lois can be easily deemed the best DC show to come out of this Network and has built a strong place for itself among DC fans.
However, following the constant cancellation of DC products and CW shows, the future of the show remains uncertain, but it seems HBO Max (soon to be rebranded as Max), may come to its rescue.
HBO Max might save Superman & Lois from reported cancellation
With CW canceling most of its DC originals and The Flash set to come to its end, Gotham Knights and Superman & Lois are the last remaining ongoing originals for CW. However, the future of the latter may be in danger, as CW president Brad Schwartz has expressed his desire of keeping only one DC show on the network. And considering the budget of Superman & Lois, it may not be the one to move forward for a fourth season under the supervision of CW.
But this might not be the end of the critically acclaimed and one of the highest-rated CW shows, as it seems Warner Brothers may be interested in continuing the show further. Although the show hasn’t been greenlit for a fourth season, reports claim that HBO Max might be interested in keeping the show alive due to its strong fanbase. Following this report, fans are now wishing that their favorite CW show doesn’t get axed in the future.
Fans showcase their desire to see more of Superman & Lois
For a long while, fans have been wanting to witness a comic-accurate version of Superman after Zack Snyder took a dark and grimmer approach with his version of the character. But before James Gunn announced that he was taking the character back to his roots in his upcoming Superman: Legacy, Superman & Lois was the show that revive the character in live-action.
Unlike its movie counterpart, the show took a more faithful approach for its Superman, and Tyler Hoechlin soon became a fan-favorite. Many even went as far as to claim that his version of Clark Kent is on par with Christopher Reeve’s iconic portrayal of the character. Considering the show also comprises some of the best storytelling and cinematography in the entire network, it’s reasonable to see why fans are now hoping that HBO Max steps forward to save the show.
Although the future of Superman & Lois remains under wraps for the time, considering that the show still holds a pretty solid fanbase, fans can expect HBO Max to soon take the show under its wings.
The first two seasons of Superman & Lois are available to stream on HBO Max.
