It has been more than a decade since Kathleen Kennedy took over Lucasfilm as president. However, now it seems like her tenure as Lucasfilm President has come to an end. Recently, it was reported that Kennedy has not yet issued any renewal or extension with the company, which suggests that she might not be willing to continue her job.
However, as per the sources, even if Kennedy discontinues her job at Lucasfilm, she has conditioned that she will still be on the set of the two upcoming films.
Kathleen Kennedy is reportedly moving out of Lucasfilm
Lucasfilm is one of the world’s leading entertainment companies and has produced many major hit films. Legendary films like the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises are part of the company. The person behind this grand endeavor is Kathleen Kennedy, who became the president of Lucasfilm in 2012.
And ever since then, she has been doing her job remarkably well. However, rumors about her departure from the company have been swirling for years. Recently, a source reported that Kennedy is probably planning her exit from Lucasfilm, as she hasn’t made any move regarding the renewal of her contract with the company yet. The source said,
“Kathleen Kennedy will not be seeking a renewal or extension of her contract, which ends in 2024.”
It has been informed that Kennedy’s contract with the company is valid until next year. Although the negotiations regarding her exist, Kennedy won’t be taking part in them. The source said,
“Kathleen Kennedy is not going to be in these negotiations as far as we know. She’s not going to ride in on a black steed to Burbank. This is going to be handled through attorneys, through representatives on both sides.”
However, since Kennedy hasn’t confirmed anything yet, her exit from Lucasfilm remains in the realm of speculation.
Who is going to replace Kathleen Kennedy?
According to the sources, Kathleen Kennedy has not yet sought the renewal of her contract to continue as president of Lucasfilm. Although the position of Creative Director has been offered to Jon Favreau, this role doesn’t clash with Kennedy’s job profile. The source elucidated, “The Creative Director position at Lucasfilm has been offered, and it has been offered to Jon Favreau.”
The source went on to say that Favreau hasn’t agreed to the offer yet. Also, it is not certain that the company will be led by the Creative Director of the studio. However, there are chances that the new head of the studio might be recruited, and the person may share the same power as Jon Favreau.
