“She’s got to lay it off for a little bit”: Wednesday Star Wants Jenna Ortega’s Titular Character to Remain Single in Upcoming Season 2 for a Personal Reason

“She’s got to lay it off for a little bit”: Wednesday Star Wants Jenna Ortega’s Titular Character to Remain Single in Upcoming Season 2 for a Personal Reason

Wednesday is a spin-off series of Addams Family, which focuses on the family’s teenage daughter, Wednesday Addams, and her journey through high school. Wednesday is transferred to Nevermore, a school specifically for outcasts. It turns out she does not fit in a school made for those who are not accepted by society at large. The show garnered 341.23 million hours worth of views in just the first week of its release. It exceeded the Stranger Things record and became the most-watched English-language show on Netflix. So it was no surprise that Netflix would renew it for another season.

There are now additional inquiries following the Wednesday report that Netflix has ordered a second season. The indestructible child of woe has been hounded, tormented, practically slaughtered, and tortured in ways that she probably relished but that were nevertheless a pain for us. Things appear to be improving for the Goth at Nevermore Academy now that her journey is set to move forward. But what will happen after that? Who will and who won’t return?

“We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles.… Catherine [Zeta-Jones] is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important .”

The show’s writers and cast were quite enthusiastic about the idea of a follow-up. In an interview with TVLine, co-showrunner Miles Millar discussed the show’s future. He discussed how Wednesday and her mothers’ relationship will be an important focus of the next season. The creators will also focus on the Addams family and their stories, and try spread those out in each episode.

Emma Myers is nothing like her Character Enid from Netflix Series

Enid and Wednesday

In an exclusive interview with Variety, Emma Myers spoke about her character and how she related to her. In reality, the actress is nothing like the extroverted, highly-social Enid; instead, Emma Myers is quite the introvert. She started out with theater and advertisements before pausing to play sports at the age of 11. Five years later, her family relocated to Atlanta, and she resumed acting seriously.

Myers spoke with Variety from Los Angeles, where she is now filming Family Leave, a film starring Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms. They discussed her thoughts on the show’s popularity, her predictions for Season 2, and the future development of Wednesday and Enid’s friendship.

Emma Myers was asked, “Did you yourself ever find her annoying?” To which she replied,

“No, I quite like Enid. The TikTok and Snapchat lines made me cringe, but I feel like that’s normal because I’m not on all that social media, but I really like Enid. Even though I’m not like her, I can appreciate her and her character and her spirit.”

Emma Myers as Enid

The interviewer followed up with a question about Jenna Ortega’s friendship to which Emma Myers explained that Ortega was very much like Wednesday. Ortega is one of the closest friends of Myers and they constantly poked fun at each other.

“Jenna is very much like Wednesday. But because I’m not much like Enid, we don’t have the same dynamic in real life — me poking at her constantly, her brushing me off. We get along so well, I love Jenna. She’s one of my closest friends. I think we have a different dynamic off-screen, but I still don’t think it’s any less important or deep or beautiful than Enid and Wednesday’s.”

There is no doubt that Emma Myers had to play a character that was opposite to her and she hit it out of the park. With Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday dominating the screen, Myers’ Enid stood her ground as an equal of Wednesday.

Emma Myers wants Wednesday to be single for another season

In an exclusive interview with Variety, Emma Myers who played Enid spoke about Season 2. She said that the news was thrilling but could not share it with anyone at that time. However, soon the news was officially out and the buzz grew louder. When asked “Have you seen posts about Wenclair [Wednesday and Enid’s ship name] on Twitter and the internet at all?” Myers replied,

“I’m not on Twitter, and I’m not really on social media very much, but my sisters find it amusing to send me stuff. Fan art, tweets talking about it. My Instagram comments are flooded with it, and so are my DMs. So yeah, I have seen it.”

The interviewer asked a follow-up question about the possibility of a romantic relationship between Enid and Wednesday, to which the actress replied,

“Anything is possible in the show. We haven’t really spoken about direction at all, so I don’t know what the game plan is for anything. As far as love interests go for Wednesday, I feel like at least for a second season, she needs to take her season of singleness. She just had a whole fiasco with her men, she’s got to lay it off for a little bit. I would be deterred from dating anybody if I had gone through that.”

Emma Myers’ Enid is sunshiny, glamorous, and, colorful, which makes her the perfect companion for Wednesday, who is deadly, cold, and monochromatic. The two shine in each other’s company, and have a lot to learn. The best moments in the show were a result of Enid and Wednesday’s interactions and uncanny friendship.
