The Fifty Shades of Grey actress, Rita Ora, had a once-in-a-lifetime experience when she stepped inside a Gordon Ramsay restaurant, but it’s not what one might expect. It seems as though the singer and actress returned home empty-handed that evening after a disappointing and failed attempt at enjoying the Michelin-starred chef’s luxury fine dining extravaganza. Now, she recalls the event as a funny recollection of things gone wrong in the past.

Rita Ora Was Once Turned Away By Gordon Ramsay’s Staff

Gordon Ramsay, the celebrity chef, and infamous restaurateur, currently boasts of owning and/or operating close to 60 restaurants all over the world, with the most famous being the 3 Michelin-starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London. With its intimate and posh atmosphere, the luxury dining establishment invokes a sense of dignity and formality at first glance and it is obvious in the universally unspoken yet known societal rules that one is required to present themselves as such before wanting to sit for a meal at one of these high-end establishments.

It was no wonder then that Rita Ora was turned away from one of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants after she failed to stick to the dress code — she was wearing “trackies” — as she considers herself “kind of like a tomboy”, as she later recalls in The Jonathan Ross Show in 2017:

“Well, actually, funny little story. I mean, I was wanting to, I mean like everybody else that wants to go eat in a Ramsay restaurant and then, I just didn’t get in. I wasn’t dressed the part. I walked in, and was like, ‘Ooh I’d love a little, like, meal, you know?’ and they were just like, ‘No, this isn’t happening for you.’”

Even as Gordon Ramsay appeared to be mortified by the story, the celebrity chef attempted to rectify the situation by asking her which restaurant she went to. However, the actress was comically flustered about landing the restaurant staff in trouble with their infamous boss and as such, refused to disclose the name of the establishment.

The Infamous High-End Gordon Ramsay Experience

The world is quite familiar with the name: Gordon Ramsay and it comes as no surprise that a chef such as him has helmed shows like Hell’s Kitchen which has been nominated for six Primetime Emmy awards. The celebrity chef, born in Scotland, garnered an extraordinary first-hand culinary mentorship from one of the world’s finest Michelin-starred chefs who towed him along to France and Italy.

After taking a year away from the chaos and stress of the restaurant business, Ramsay returned to London in 1993 and by 1998, opened his very own establishment, named Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea, United Kingdom. Now the Michelin-starred chef is celebrated for his unique humor and for turning the well-known practice of abuse in the hospitality business into comic satire and simultaneously offering a full-house show for the guests at his eateries.
