Shaquille O’Neal refused a Middle Eastern Princess’s marriage proposal
The ace actor and sports icon once graced Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2021. During the show, host Jimmy Kimmel asked him if the story of a Middle Eastern princess’s proposal for marriage was true or not. The Blended actor replied,
“She just came, and we went on a date. But she was too way too aggressive for me.”
As Kimmel asked that did he give a thought to the proposal, he replied,
“No, I did, she wanted to pay for everything, and I am not used to that. We went out for dinner, and she was like your money is no good here. She pulled out her credit card, and I was like (Shaq folded his hands).”
The actor with a net worth around $400 million, added that the key to his heart was not to pay for anything.
NBA star Shaquille O’Neal’s personal life
The ace basketball player Shaq and his now ex-wife Shaunie began dating in the late 1990s after he had joined the Los Angeles Lakers. Shaunie was a film marketer at the time. The duo married in a private ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel in December 2002. The duo welcomed four children together, two during their relationship and two after marriage. However, after five years of marriage, Shaq filed for divorce. Shaunie dismissed the divorce and reconciled with the NBA star.
In 2009, Shaunie filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. The duo reached a settlement in 2010. Talking about the reason for divorce, Shaq shared in his memoir Shaq Uncut: My Story,
“At one time my ex-wife Shaunie and I were happy, but I admit it — I was a guy. I was a guy with too many options. Choosing to be with some of those women, well, that’s on me. In my mind, I never did it disrespectfully, but obviously, I shouldn’t have done it all.”
Shaunie tied the knot with fiancé Henderson in 2022 at a tropical island. Her children were in attendance at her wedding.
Shaquille O’Neal is presently seeing Annie Ilonzeh Ngozi. They began dating in late 2022. She is a 39 years old actress known for work in General Hospital, Til Death Do Us Part, All Eyez on Me, Charlie’s Angels, etc.
