Sandra Bullock rose to fame with her performance in the 1994 movie Speed and has achieved so much in the last three decades. The long list of accolades won by the 58-year-old also includes the Best Actress Oscar she won for her 2009 film The Blind Side. She played the role of the adoptive mother of footballer Michael Oher in the biographical sports drama, who constantly supported his dream of becoming a national-level footballer.
The actress has talked about how she considered Meryl Streep her biggest competitor, who was also nominated under the same category for her film Julie & Julia. And during her appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the actress opened up about the heated competition between them.
Sandra Bullock Talks About the Oscars Competition With Meryl Streep
Sandra Bullock won her first Oscar for Best Actress at the 82nd Academy Awards against some of the leading stars in the industry. One of these nominees also included Meryl Streep, who already won two Oscars for Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress in 1980 and 1983, respectively.
However, according to the Gravity star, things got a little heated at the time after she received a message from Streep. While talking to the talk show host Graham Norton, she shared that she was excited after she received flowers from the Mamma Mia! star.
However, she was disappointed when she spotted three dead orchids on the bottom. “And up comes this nice bottom part [motions in the shape of a flower pot] with, like, three dead orchids on it,” she explained. Bullock further said that she also found a note saying, “Die b*tch. Love, Meryl.”
She also shared that the Little Women actress “was egging [her] the entire time.” So, she decided to fight back and humiliate Streep in front of the huge crowd by kissing her on stage.

Sandra Bullock also recalled kissing the three-time Oscar winner. She shared that she wanted to “humiliate” Meryl Streep. “It was no holds barred. I had to take Meryl down,” she said. And she got the opportunity after the two Hollywood stars tied for Best Actress at the 2010 Critics’ Choice Awards.
After The Iron Lady star took the award, Bullock was also awarded the Best Actress Critics’ Choice Award for The Blind Side. As The Heat star took the stage, she threw in an act to be offended at being tied with Streep and jokingly blurted, “This is bullsh*t,” before going in for a kiss with Meryl Streep.
Bullock recalled the incident saying that Streep “asked for it” as she was heckling her the entire time. She shared that she came up with the idea to “kill her with my kisses” on stage. Sandra Bullock also shared that she was honored to share the stage with Meryl Streep.
