It was love at first sight for Johnny Depp when he first laid eyes on Winona Ryder at a 1989 movie premiere. The two had found love for each other in Hollywood fame’s wilderness, but what had been this greatest love would also later turn out to be the greatest heartbreak.
After meeting for the first time at the Great Balls of Fire! premiere when Depp was 26 and Ryder was 17, the two fell in love on the set of Edward Scissorhands a year later. “She really likes Johnny, so I think she’s pretty happy for me. And although she gives me advice, she doesn’t expect me to take it. I’m going to do what I’m going to do anyway.”
