But the short marriage was not a happy one as per an unpublished manuscript. Actually, if the manuscript is to be believed then the late Lisa Presley knew that she was a mistake and wasn’t the woman Michael Jackson wanted. But she still went through with the wedding.
Lisa Marie Presley Knew Michael Jackson Didn’t Want To Marry Her
Michael Jackson’s family released a statement after Lisa Marie Presley’s passing. The singer-songwriter passed away at 54 years of age due to a cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas, CA on January 12. The estate of the late King of Pop said in a statement:
“We are saddened by the sudden tragic loss of Michael’s former wife, Lisa Marie Presley. Michael cherished the special bond they enjoyed and was comforted by Lisa Marie’s generous love, concern, and care during their times together.”
The statement is heart-touching. But it has also raised eyebrows among the fans of Michael Jackson. After all, Lisa Marie Presley and Jackson’s marriage in the 90s didn’t last long, and as per a new revelation, it wasn’t full of happiness either. As per the unpublished manuscript revealed by RadarOnline, the two singers’ marriage was torn apart by painkillers and lack of genuine love for Presley by Jackson.
The outlet reports that the two were friends first before their relationship turned in a romantic direction. One fateful day in 1993, Michael Jackson reached out to Presley claiming that he was feeling suicidal. That day everything changed. He proposed, but apparently not because he was in love, but because in the haze of the painkillers, he thought Presley was his intimate friend, Debbie Rowe.
The late King of Pop allegedly abused painkillers since 1984, after a Pepsi commercial left him with third-degree scalp burns. As per a source, Presley should have noticed something was wrong, but she still accepted his proposal. The insider spilled:
“She must have noticed something was off about his behavior, but she ignored it until he called her Debbie.”
But the relationship began to unravel post their 1994 Dominican wedding.

During an interview with Rolling Stone in 2003, Elvis Presley’s only child revealed why she was drawn to Jackson. She said that it was because she loved being a savior. As per the singer-songwriter:

But that didn’t drive the final nail in the coffin of their marriage. It was Jackson’s continued friendship with Debbie and the subsequent revelation that she was pregnant that allegedly led Presley to file for divorce. In 1996, the two were divorced and Jackson went on to marry Rowe. The couple had 3 children, Prince, Paris and Bigi.
