Emily Blunt and John Krasinski have made the world whether it be for their strong personal bond or proficient professional career. Their real-life bond was able to get featured in the latter’s 2018 directorial, A Quiet Place where they struggle to survive and raise their children by living in silence as the post-apocalyptic world gets inhabited by mysterious blind creatures who hunt through sound.
Given that the film was widely acclaimed due to several factors, it would be surprising for many that the latter had not intended to ask her to play the leading role.
John Krasinski Was Afraid to Work With Emily Blunt
Despite a great marital life, John Krasinski was hesitant to ask his wife, Emily Blunt to play the lead role of Evelyn Abbott in 2018’s A Quiet Place. However, he did admit that he kept her in mind while writing that role.
“I never asked her to do the role. I wrote the movie with her in mind. I wrote her part with her in mind.”
He continued to share that he was quite afraid that she would have agreed to work with him had he offered the role to her.
“I got so scared. First that she would say no, because that’s just an awkward dinner. Yeah. And after that, it’s just a lot. But I was actually more afraid that she’d say, yes, I’ll do it for you.”
It was because he never wanted “the classiest, smartest, most dedicated actress” he had known to just accept the role due to their relationship. She is quite a hardworking actress who puts in great effort for any role she gets into. Given that her decision might be influenced due to his involvement, he never approached her. But, it was Blunt herself who forced him to get associated with the 2018 project.
Emily Blunt Offered to Star in A Quiet Place
However, Blunt eventually got her hands on the movie script and developed a natural interest to star in the film.
“She said, can I read the script? And I said, yeah, sure.”
However, her reaction after reading the script left him worried. The Office actor shared with host Jimmy Kimmel,
“She genuinely looked sick. And I was reaching for a barf bag thinking that she was going to throw up. And she said you can’t let anyone do this movie. And I said, what does that mean?”
He continued,
“It was like a romantic comedy where she was proposing to me. She was like, you have to let me play this part. And I think I just screamed yes on a flight.”
He also explained that this was the very reason why that movie was special for them since it connected with the duo naturally. Meanwhile, the film was an incredible hit grossing $341M collection worldwide.
