Some actors happen to be insufferably estranged while they’re working together. Others barely manage to slip a word or two to each other, like Christian Bale and Johnny Depp. And then some end up going from colleagues and co-stars to the best of friends in no time, like The Rock and Kevin Hart’s iconic duo or Jennifer Lawrence and Zoë Kravitz, for that matter.
The Peculiar Way Jennifer Lawrence and Zoë Kravitz Bonded
Jennifer Lawrence and Zoë Kravitz first crossed paths in the famous Marvel production of formidable mutants, X-Men: First Class, directed by renowned English filmmaker, Matthew Vaughn. The duo developed a deep attachment since their collaboration, though they’re yet to make more movies together. But their off-screen friendship has certainly aged well over the years, and why wouldn’t it? Lawrence stripped herself bare for the sake of their friendship, and in the most literal sense too.
The Hunger Games star went full nude in front of Kravitz despite having met her only a few times back then. Her method of breaking the ice might not have been the most conventional, but hey, it certainly got the job done! They probably skipped all the awkward stages of getting comfortable around each other after Lawrence welcomed her friend in a towel the first time Kravitz visited her place.
“I’d met her a few times, and she was like, ‘You should come over and we’ll hang out.’ So I go over to her apartment, and she opens the door in a towel. She’s like, ‘Come in, sorry, you’re early, I was about to shower’. And she drops her towel and gets in the shower, and starts shaving her legs, totally naked. She was like, ‘Are we here yet? Is this okay?’ And I was like, ‘I guess we’re there!'”
No better way to kick off a friendship than a classic towel-dropping.
A Friendship That Aged Like Fine Wine
It’s been over a decade since The Batman star met Lawrence on the set of the 2011 film, and yet, their friendship has only solidified over the years. From hosting slumber parties to being a pillar of support during tough decisions, Kravitz and Lawrence share an unbreakable bond. Not to mention, the two have been seen gushing about each other on more than one occasion.
“Zoe Kravitz is… I think… well, she’s my best friend,” the 32-year-old Academy Award winner said in an old MTV interview. In a separate interview after that, Kravitz reciprocated the feeling after she mentioned how Lawrence was a “godsend” in the X-Men film that they starred in and called her super “fun” and extremely “beautiful.”
“Jen has handled it beautifully,” Kravitz, 34, said, lauding Lawrence’s immaculate way of handling global stardom without letting it alter her personality. “She’s the same person she was when I first met her. Literally, like nothing has changed.” She even approached the Red Sparrow star for advice before taking the major decision of signing off on the Divergent franchise. “She was just like ‘do it’ and super supportive,” Kravitz told Collider.
X-Men: First Class can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
