Back in April 2023, rumors about Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Jack Dylan Grazer being cast in the live-action adaptation of How to Train You Dragon began circulating. Speculated to play the role of Hiccup Haddock, Grazer was one of the three actors who were being considered for the role. However, now it seems that the 19-year-old actor might be out of the race.
And that’s not it. Around a month ago, the failure of DC’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods turned out to be a heartbreaking event for Grazer and the DCU fam.
Did Jack Dylan Grazer lose How to Train Your Dragon because of Shazam’s failure?
Recently, Twitter Influencer and CNBC Writer Daniel Richtman hinted that Jack Dylan Grazer is no longer being considered for the How to Train Your Dragon role. Reposting a post by Geek Vibes Nation from April. 2023, Richtman added the caption, “Welp, not anymore.’
Following this many fans began speculating the reasons behind Grazer losing the role. While some cited the Shazam sequel’s colossal failure, others mentioned some prior allegations that might have affected the makers’ decision.
What was Grazer accused of?
After garnering fame with the 2017 horror movie It, Jack Dylan Grazer bagged roles in movies like Shazam!, Luca, as well as It Chapter Two among others. However, in 2022, Grazer was accused of some serious allegations.
Shockingly, a Twitter thread shared some screenshots of messages by Grazer’s former girlfriend Cylia Chasman. Containing some disturbing details, the messages indicated that Grazer had physically and emotionally abused Chasman.
Furthermore, the thread claimed that another ex-girlfriend came forward with her story of abuse by Grazer. In fact, some Twitter users also accused the Shazam! actor of being a racist.
However, no proof of the same had been found against Grazer, and the actor, along with his mother Angela LaFever hired a lawyer to defend him. As per the official statement, the lawyer described Chasman as a ‘troubled, immature, attention-seeking young woman.’
However, the statement also clarified that neither Grazer nor his family would be pressing any charges against Chasman as they did not want to compound her problems. But it did warn her of serious legal repercussions if she continued to defame the actor.
Since the incident, Grazer has come out as bisexual and has denied all allegations against him.
