Shazam 2 Box Office Collection: Will it be the Final DCU Movie For Zachary Levi?

Will it be the Final DCU Movie For Zachary Levi?

Shazam the superhero may possess Solomon’s knowledge, Hercules’ strength, Atlas’ endurance, Zeus’ power, Achilles’ bravery, and Mercury’s speed, but Shazam! Fury of the Gods box office performance was disappointing.

The DC sequel debuted to a disappointing $30.1 million domestically, which is significantly less than the $53.5 million the previous movie brought in in 2019.

Zachary Levi, the movie’s star, spoke candidly about the weak opening on Twitter and attributed it to the way the film was marketed and sold.

Levi claimed that “promotion” was Fury of the Gods “greatest challenge” in a fan Q&A. He added that while he is not blaming Zack Snyder fans for the film’s poor box office performance, he is aware that there is a very vocal group of Snyder supporters online that fervently wish for any other DC production to fail.

How did Shazam! Fury of the Gods fare at the box office

Shazam 2 collected $35 million from 77 markets at the international box office for a miserable $65.5 million global opening.

Apologies to anyone else who needed them, but Zachary Levi’s Shazam 2 never really took off with its obvious family demographic, and more intellectual fans seemed to completely disregard it. The figures shouldn’t be as shocking as they have been made out to be because the critics weren’t much more complimentary this time.

Will Shazam! 2 be Zachary Levi’s last DC Extended Universe film?

Shazam 2’s failure might signal disaster for fans who hoped Zachary Levi’s hero would remain in the new DC Universe. The future of actors like Levi is unknown as a result of DC switching from the previous DCEU to the new DCU under co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran’s leadership.

The first significant shift in casting that DC announced after the new management took over was Henry Cavill’s departure from the character of Superman. This action demonstrated that no actor could be assured of a role in the new DC Universe. Although Gunn explained during the recent DCU Chapter One slate announcement that Shazam! Fury of the Gods would be simple to connect with the DC Universe due to Shazam being in his own corner of DC, but the film’s dismal box office projection might kill this version of the hero’s chances of continuing at DC

But let me tell you, I'm not just a couch potato. Nope, I also like to get my sweat on through sports and other physical shenanigans. And when I'm not being a superhero myself, I make sure to kick it with my fam, 'cause family time is priceless, my friends.
