Scary 'Avengers: Endgame' Deleted Scene Proves Thanos Will Return To MCU

If there is one scene in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that collectively brought chills down everyone’s spines and unleashed a wave of emotions, it has to be Tony Stark defeating Thanos just in time, in Avengers: Endgame. Time came to a standstill as Tony muttered “I am Iron Man,” saving the world from Thanos, however, at the cost of his own life.

Now, it looks like one of the most iconic scenes in MCU had a hidden fact to it all along. According to a deleted scene from Avengers: Endgame, there is a possibility that Thanos is alive and well and is lurking in the background waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The deleted scene shines a light on the possibility that Thanos might be returning to finish what he started.

Disney+ released a series of deleted scenes for Avengers: Endgame, including one which showed an alternate death of Black Widow. However, possibly the most intriguing deleted scene has to be a conversation between Hulk and the Ancient One. While the conversation is quite similar to the one kept in the film, this version reveals a bit more about Thanos’ infamous snap.

The Ancient One reveals that the snap didn’t really kill a single soul and Thanos only willed them out of existence, making their resurrection in Endgame possible.

If someone dies, they will always die. Death is irreversible but Thanos is not. Those you’ve lost are not dead. They’ve been willed out of existence, which means they can be willed back. But it doesn’t come cheap.”

This answers why Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow or Tom Hiddleston’s Loki weren’t seen coming out of the portals in Endgame. The conversation also very straightforwardly presents the possibility that Thanos can return to Earth if someone wielding the Infinity Stones wills him to.

Was Tony and Natasha’s Sacrifice For Nothing?

Black Widow’s sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame

The Ancient One was right, it didn’t come cheap. Both Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff died to save the planet from Thanos. Without any regard for their own lives, the two Avengers wasted no time in doing what was right and what needed to be done.

However, if Marvel Studios ever decide on bringing the Mad Titan back for another round, it would simply be downright disrespectful to Tony and Natasha. The sacrifice the two made wasn’t a small one. If Thanos was to return, it would mean that they lost their lives in vain.

There is a possibility that a future villain wants to team up with Thanos to bring the planet to destruction, once and for all. If this does turn out to be the case, the new superheroes better start training harder as facing off against Thanos is no child’s play.

On the other hand, Marvel Studios make pretty well-calculated moves on their part. Deleting the conversation between the Ancient One and Hulk could mean that the Studios have absolutely no interest in taking a page from their archives and that the MCU will grow further with newer and more bad**s villains, instead.

Avengers: Endgame is available to stream on Disney+.
