Hammer operated Stark Industries rival weapons manufacturer, Hammer Industries; and was responsible for the weaponizing of psychotic Russian physicists… Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke). Last we saw of Rockwell’s Hammer (minus a cameo in Marvel One-Shot: All Hail the King) he was being carted away too prison for his crimes.
Rockwell hasn’t ruled out the possibility of returning, however; when speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar nominee addressed the possibility of his return quoting…
“Of course! I have some great buddies in that franchise. Jeremy Renner is a good friend of mine, and I am pals with Chris Evans and Mark Ruffalo. Robert [Downey Jr.] is always fun. Would love to get me and Clark [Gregg] back in that franchise. That would be a lot of fun.”
Justin Hammer is one of the few villains that Marvel has not killed off… leaving the door wide open for a return in some way, shape, or form! I would be happy to see a talent like Rockwell (or Clark Gregg for that matter) return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
