Ryan Reynolds Ready To Shave "Professional-Grade Golf Course" onto Wrexham AFC Co-Owner's Back to Get Welsh Legend Gareth Bale into His Football Team

Ryan Reynolds along with fellow actor Rob McElhenney bought an unlikely Welsh football club, Wrexham AFC back in 2020 as what many considered to be a pet project. However, Reynolds and his co-owner stood firm in their beliefs as to what this club could turn out to be. Proving them right, after 15 years out of the National League, they won against Boreham Wood 3-1 in a historical move.

As such, the quaint Welsh town along with the club owners and the massive international support they have gained due to their Hollywood fame are in a celebratory mood.

To make the season even more magical, it seems, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds are well into their path to wooing Welsh legend Gareth Bale out of retirement and into their club one final time utilizing the star footballer’s love for golf.

Wrexham AFC snatches historical win under Ryan Reynolds’ ownership

Wrexham, aka, the Red Dragons once used to be the champions of the pitch consistently throughout the 1970s- 1990s. However, the 2000s brought their first patch of bad luck which led to them being relegated from the National League in 2008 and 2011 saw them getting a petition for an unpaid tax bill of €200,000.

In fact, they kept digressing to the lower end of the League with a finishing rank of 19 during the 2019-2020 season. Thankfully, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the club in 2020 and brought with them the charm the players needed to finally pull through. As manager Phil Parkinson noted,

“People know we’ve been 15 years outside the league and the journey the club has been on in that time. It has been torturous at times with the club nearly going out of business. But what the owners have done, the positivity in the town about the football club, and how people have galvanised that has been very special.”

This is something, Reynolds and McElhenney themselves exclaimed that what happened on Saturday had been nothing but a dream come true. Reynolds spoke to BT Sports after the historical win claiming that he has yet to process all that happened and how unreal it seems. He further added,

“One thing that’s running through my head over and over again is [how] people said at the beginning, ‘Why Wrexham, why Wrexham?’ This is exactly why Wrexham. What’s happening right now is why.”

McElhenney, too, expressed his joy by saying,

“I think we can hear how it feels to the town and that’s what’s most important to us. I think this is a moment of catharsis for them and celebration and for us to be welcomed into their community and to be welcomed into this experience has been the honor of my life.”

And now after the emotional rollercoaster “The Hollywood ending” brought on and quips about Reynolds pissing himself in excitement, it seems they are more than ready to make this season even more magical than it already has become.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney try to woo Gareth Bale

Fittingly named the greatest Welsh football player of all time, Gareth Bale finally took his retirement from professional football earlier this year. Although the former Real Madrid Forward claimed that his retirement would bring “an opportunity for a new adventure,” it is yet to be revealed just what that might be.

However, neither his statement nor his retirement seems to have daunted Ryan Reynolds or Rob McElhenney as they recently took to Twitter to woo Bale out of retirement and into their team. McElhenney in a post, tagged Gareth Bale and invited him for golf claiming that he, “totally won’t spend 4 hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season.”

Bale, in good humor, quipped that it would matter on which course they’d play golf, and that obviously brought the main culprit, aka, the Deadpool star under his comment section where he claimed, “I will shave a professional-grade golf course into Rob’s back if you’ll give Wrexham a season.” As the hours went on, he even gave an amusing update to his initial proposal.

Although it will be interesting to see, if this massive win and Reynolds’ proposal do worm their way into the former Wales national football team’s Midfielder’s heart, it sure has given the massive supporters the club has gained food for thought for the time being as they have already started hoping for the club’s blessings to stretch on the entire season.
