According to a well-known insider, GTA 6 will have, multiple playable areas, including “Part of Cuba”. Although there has been no word on a release date for GTA 6, many believe that there is a reveal right around the Corner. This is mainly due to the fact that in a recent report, the parent company to Rockstar, Take Two, suggested that the game could launch next fiscal year.

It has been rumoured,(and partially confirmed by last year’s leaks), that GTA 6 will see players returning to one of the series’ most beloved locations; Vice City. Grand Theft Auto’s stand-in for Miami is one of gaming’s most iconic open-world settings and since it hasn’t been seen in over 20 years ago, it would make sense that GTA 6, much like GTA 5 is returning to familiar shores.
Island Life: Why Would GTA 6 Take Place in Cuba?
So where does Cuba come into the picture? Well according to a now removed live stream VOD from his YouTube channel, industry insider Tyler McVicker knows more than most. In the livestream McVicker listed off some of the things he knows about the game, including that it has two playable characters, has a time jump of some kind, and will feature Cuba as a playable area.
McVicker is a well-established source who has been right in the past with his leaks, however, these have mostly been about games published by Valve. McVicker stated that:
“We already know how GTA 6 is gonna end. Spoilers, Bonnie and Clyde back in like the 30s, died in a blaze of gunfire. It’s not three playable characters, it’s two playable characters. It takes place with a time jump. It takes place in the Miami, Florida, area and then also part of Cuba. It’s about the drug trade. It’s about bank robbing. It’ll be out in 2024.”

Most of what he is saying lines up with all of the leaks we’ve gotten over the last year, including the big one in September 2022. That leak in particular confirmed the Vice City setting as well as two main playable protagonists, alongside showing us beta gameplay for GTA 6.
This would also not be the first time a Rockstar game has taken place on a Caribbean Island as Red Dead Redemption 2 featured the fictional Caribbean island of Guarma. This could have easily influenced Rockstar to add Cuba to introduce more variety into GTA 6, just as Gurma provided a breath of fresh air for Read Dead Redemption 2’s Old West setting.
The key one that Stands out, besides Cuba as a playable location, is the mention of a time skip. Although this is not an uncommon thing to feature in Rockstar Games, such as the prologue in GTA V and the epilogue in Red Dead Redemption 2, involving time skips opens up new possibilities for GTA 6. It could easily lead to the player being able to visit Vice City in it’s 1980’s heyday or have a character stuck in prison as part of the game’s story flashing forward to their release similar to other Crime sim Mafia II.

Ultimately, we won’t know if any of this is true until Grand Theft Auto 6 has its long-awaited announcement trailer which many believe will happen this year.
