The iconic part man, part machine, all cop hero is on his way. However, after hitting some turbulence, he will be slightly delayed: RoboCop: Rogue City by developer, Teyon, and publisher, Nacon, was slated for a September release but has just been pushed to November 2, 2023. After first quietly revealing the new release date in a trailer description shown at Gamescom, the team took to Twitter to explain the delay of RoboCop: Rogue City.
More Time for The Team to Make Necessary Improvements
Last week, Teyon released a new trailer at Gamescom, showcasing several minutes of gameplay footage of the upcoming RoboCop: Rogue City. While it wasn’t shown in the video itself, the description on YouTube states the game will “arrive on November 2, 2023.” This was our first clue we won’t be serving the public to rid Detroit’s streets of its criminal scum in September as originally promised. However, at that time, no official reasons were given for the delay.
Today we got an official statement from Teyon. As posted on Twitter, the team has delayed the game to “give [themselves] more time to make necessary improvements.” Early in July, it ran a free-to-play beta test, after which many players shared their thoughts and issues with the game, highlighting areas that still needed improvement. Teyon is taking “extra time” to address this “valuable feedback” and deliver “a game that meets [the players’] expectations.”
This isn’t the first time RoboCop: Rogue City has been delayed. The game that was originally announced in 2021 initially had June 2023 as its launch window. However, in March this year, it was pushed back to September. After its second delay, it’s now slated to launch on November 2, if all goes well from here on out, that is. With September and October being stacked sky-high with anticipated games, players might not be too disappointed to wait a little longer before fighting crime in Detroit as the legendary RoboCop.

RoboCop: Rogue City: An “Authentic RoboCop Game”
RoboCop: Rogue City will see the return of the famed RoboCop, a crime-fighting cyborg policeman, who first graced the silver screen back in 1987 and has since become one of the most iconic sci-fi franchises. Aiming to bring fans an “authentic RoboCop game experience that is faithful to the franchise’s DNA” with an original story, you will play as RoboCop himself. The story is set between RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3 and will see him investigating crimes in the streets of Detroit as a new enemy is threatening to destroy his home.
The newly released trailer gives us a brief insight into what the gameplay in RoboCop: Rogue City will be. Apart from explosive shootouts with plenty of gore, it seems like we’ll also be taking a deep dive into RoboCop’s psychological side and exploring his mental state. It’s about more than mowing down criminals using his Auto-9, factory-built strength, and his arsenal of tools. A determinant dialogue system and decisions that impact the course of the story and the fate of everyone involved will make you think before you act to bring justice to Detroit.
