Everyone who lived through the late 2000s and early 2010s knows how big of a star Robert Pattinson was. The absolute craze for Edward Cullen and the Twilight franchise was nothing short of mesmerizing to witness. The vampire franchise spawned other shows like the most popular Vampire Diaries. Ian Somerhalder in that show gained a lot of public adoration due to his role as Damon Salvatore.
Over the years, he dated his co-star Nina Dobrev, who played one of the protagonists, Elena Gilbert, in the show. It also looks like the actor had a specific preference- for brunette actresses who have played Vampire women. After all, his search for women who fit that niche criteria sent him into the arms of Pattinson’s co-star.
When Ian Somerhalder Smooched Robert Pattinson’s Vampire Co-Star
Currently, Ian Somerhalder is married to Nikki Reed, who shot to fame in the Twilight franchise as Rosalie Cullen. The couple have two children. But Reed isn’t the only Twilight actress that her husband has kissed. Once upon a time, the Vampire Diaries actor was also spotted kissing Ashley Greene, who played Alice Cullen in the famous franchise.
In 2009, it was reported that Ian Somerhalder and Ashley Greene had been spotted kissing at a concert in Vancouver. Just Jared reported at that time:
“Ashley was there with Ian, who appears to be her new boyfriend. The two seemed really happy and kissed throughout the show!”
The site also said that other Twilight cast members were also there attending the concert. As such, it looks like Reed could have seen her future husband smooch her on-screen sister. But what about Ashley Greene? How did she feel when she got to know that Reed and Somerhalder had gotten together?
Twilight Actress Was Happy That Her Co-Star Had Found Vampire Diaries Star
Ashley Greene and Ian Somerhalder’s fling or relationship didn’t last long. As a result, it looks like the actress didn’t hold any grudges towards Nikki Reed. In an interview with People magazine, she had nothing but good things to say about the couple. Greene said:
“I’m so excited for [Nikki]. I saw her at Coachella and she was just glowing, and now, I mean, I get why. She’s just so happy. That’s what you have to find in life and when you do find it, I think you should run with it and I think that’s what she did.”
Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed aren’t the only Twilight stars who had a vampire romance of their own. The most famous one is between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart who played the two leads Edward Cullen and Bella Swan respectively. However, unlike Reed and Somerhalder, both of them aren’t together anymore. The Batman actor is currently dating Suki Waterhouse and Stewart is dating Dylan Meyer.
