Robert Pattinson found some notoriety when he stated his controversial opinions back in 2019. Talking about the different types of acting, the actor stated that he hates the commonly used procedure referred to as “method acting”.

The statements seemed to amuse people since Jonathan Majors, the MCU actor accused of misdemeanor assault stated in his defense that he was affected by method acting. People were not quite pleased with the actor’s defense as Robert Pattinson’s infamous line “[People] doing Method when they’re playing an a**hole” comes to mind.

Robert Pattinson Hates Method Actors

Back in 2019, the actor appeared in an interview to talk about his movie The Lighthouse. During the course of the interview, Robert Pattinson stated that according to him, people do method acting only when they are playing “a**holes”. The statement found quite some controversy back in 2019 but the matter was dismissed.

In his interview, Pattinson stated that “I always say about people doing Method acting, you only ever see people doing Method when they’re playing an a–hole. You never see someone just being lovely to everyone going, “I’m really deep in character.”

In present times, people couldn’t help but recall the actor’s statements since Jonathan Majors‘s representative stated that the allegations of physical misdemeanor and aggravated harassment were baseless. Producing his defense, the actor stated that he worked on the principle of method acting and that he did not really mean to hurt or offend any individual involved.

Several people have rallied against Jonathan Majors after the infamous incident. As for Robert Pattinson, the actor did not give any comments on the whole incident. The actor further talked with Jennifer Lopez during the run of the interview that there should be a safe space for an actor not to get overwhelmed by the thought of getting deep into the character.

“Between action and cut, that’s the thing. That’s the safe place. I need to know that there’s a cut coming, and then I feel safe. That’s when you go crazy. You know what I love of yours, which I think is such an amazing movie, is “The Cell.””

The actor also loved to challenge himself in terms of acting and breaking character stigmas by portraying the role of Batman. As per Pattinson, he actually sought the character of Batman.

Starring in the titular role of Edward Cullen in the 2008 movie Twilight, Robert Pattinson stated that he challenged himself every day to break out of his stereotyped character of Edward Cullen. Stating that he chased to portray Batman to get out of his comfort zone.

“With “Batman,” there was something — I was very focused on it. It kept coming back into my head. But I was interested in it. I don’t know what it is, which happened inside of me, but I was like, “I kind of want to do it.” I like doing something which an audience doesn’t know that it wants, and try to get it out of them: “Oh yeah, you want to play Batman.”
