It’s been a year since the release of Avengers: Endgame, the end of the Infinity Saga. The film’s an emotional roller coaster ride and the end of an era for our MCU heroes. The movie acted as the “end of the beginning” by featuring the final sendoff to Tony Stark, the hero who started it all.
Director’s words
The film concluded the chapter of Robert Downey Jr in the MCU by the death of his character. But fans are still hoping for a come back from him in the MCU.
But can we keep our hopes up? Could he ever be lured back to the series at some point? Well, the directors and actors seem to be on our side.
Co-director for Endgame and Infinity War, Joe Russo, during this week’s Endgame Quarantine Watch Party, hinted his willingness to work with RDJ in Marvel Cinematic Universe once again.
” Because we do have a lot of fun working on these things together. Everyone has a lot of fun, you get real close to each other and then you miss it. Maybe we’ll have to do it again someday,” said Joe during the watch party.
Robert, during the same, added that the people push them towards doing things.
Unpredictable comeback??
Even if RDJ‘s back, that won’t be the way we expect, but possibly in service of the story. The Russos addressed the same point recently.
Russo on Reel Blend podcast said that there should be a compelling, innovative, unpredictable narrative event to bring back Tony, for the come back to be worthful and surprise audiences.
What are all the rumors?
Above all, several rumors persist that RDJ seemingly makes an appearance in the upcoming MCU movie, Black Widow.
Rumors do offer that Robert Downey Jr. may provide the voice of an AI in the Iron heart Disney Plus series as well. If things go well and Tony Stark reprises then, that would be one hell of a moment for all the fans out there.
