Reimagined SEGA Classic C-Smash VRS Launches Today – Past Nostalgia with Current Technology Rolled into One!

In the age of remakes and remasters we currently live in, not many expected a SEGA Dreamcast classic to be the title that’d be the latest to join the list! C-Smash VRS is a remake of Cosmic Smash, as well know for being in the arcades as it was for being a Dreamcast at-home-title.

C-Smash VRS is a Full Body Experience

C-Smash VRS

Most of us think of gaming as a relaxing time to sit in front of a television or monitor with a controller or mouse in hand, and click a few keys, hit a few buttons and see the result in front of us. Well the minds of Ryan Bousfield and Jörg Tittel are looking to change that, if only for a little while. C-Smash VRS is touted as ‘an immersive full-body VR experience’ that ‘brings together the very best of racket sports and timeless action puzzle gameplay. The game’s high level of physical immersion, gameplay variety and distinct one-more-go quality will provide endless fun.’.

The game intends to get us up. It wants us moving. Virtual Reality gaming is seen as the next big leap forward, just as 3D gaming was some thirty years ago, so whilst it may take a while, we should accept it. Exercise in the form of a game isn’t exercise, after all, it’s fun.

The game is simple in premise, complicated in promise. It’s set in a utopia at the end of space and time, its low-gravity environments enabling players to pull off ridiculous shots that even the best tennis players couldn’t manage in real life – although they did try, with various professional tennis players giving the game a go pre-launch.

Featuring both multiplayer and single player modes, C-Smash VRS is a game you’ll be able to enjoy yourself or with friends. Need a relaxing time? Play one of the slower game modes. Want to be tested? Play the single-player ‘Journey’ mode, a rogue-like progression mode with 100 levels and a host of powerups for you to abuse.

Between addictive and enticing gameplay, and a soundtrack including exclusive, original tracks by DJ Ken Ishii (Rez Infinite) and ‘synth master Danalogue (front man of The Comet is Coming), the game promises to deliver ‘a hypnotic soundtrack which will make both the game’s dynamic environments – and player’s bodies – pulse to the beat.’.

The developers have promised a post-launch content roadmap filled with additional modes, features and content, so it’s not like they’re abandoning the game. There will be new updates constantly available to keep the game fresh and fun.

Will you be purchasing C-Smash VRS today? What do you make of virtual reality gaming? Is it here to stay, or just another half-finished fad like 3D movies? Let us know in the comments!
