Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill franchise has been some of the most widely celebrated action movies of all time. The action series has two volumes and there was a roar of the buzz that the third volume is happening.
Of course, who would not want a third installment of the beloved gory action series? Ever since the release of the two volumes, the movies have generated a cult following and many wondered what happens next in the franchise.
Quentin Tarantino Gives Kill Bill Vol. 3 Update
It seems the wait is over, Quentin Tarantino finally revealed the future of Kill Bill Vol. 3. But before diving into that, it is worth mentioning that the franchise is very close to his heart. In fact, the director would recommend Kill Bill to his don if he ever wishes to enter the director’s world when he comes to an appropriate age.
“Leo [his son] will be the first to enter the world. Hmm, I think around 8 or 9 years old: then he will be ready, if it interests him. Which title first? That’s up to Leo, let him choose,” Tarantino told DeMorgen. “If I Have To Gamble: Probably Kill Bill. That is the movie I would like to see if I were a little boy.”
Earlier, many speculated the potential sequel of the franchise as Uma Thurman’s daughter Maya Hawke was thought to be cast in it. Thurman also talked about it in 2022. “I can’t really tell you anything about it. I mean it has been discussed over the years,” Thurman who stars in the franchise said appearing on The Jess Cagle Show.
“There was real thought about it happening, but very long ago. I don’t see it as immediately on the horizon.”
Even for Tarantino, the third installment was not off the table. “If any of my movies were going to spring from my other movies, it would be a third ‘Kill Bill,’” Tarantino once said.
However, the director has finally addressed the long-formed hype saying that his last and tenth movie is The Movie Critic. “I don’t see that [Kill Bill Vol. 3] happening. My last film is about a film critic, a male critic. And he plays in the 70s,” the director confirmed to DeMorgen.
So, it was disappointing news for Kill Bill fans and it is still hard to digest Tarantino’s retirement for many. The director has made it clear in several interviews that he won’t sit on the director’s chair after the tenth film.
Quentin Tarantino’s Final Film The Movie Critic
The Pulp Fiction director has insisted on retiring after his tenth movie in several interviews. Tarantino is rightfully proud of his works but he definitely wants to stop directing. As early as it goes, in 2012, Tarantino told Playboy about the scary taint he’s too afraid to leave to his track record with lesser significant movies.
“I want to stop at a certain point. Directors don’t get better as they get older,” he told the outlet. “Usually the worst films in their filmography are those last four at the end.”
“I am all about my filmography, and one bad film f*cks up three good ones. I don’t want that bad, out-of-touch comedy in my filmography, the movie that makes people think, ‘Oh man, he still thinks it’s 20 years ago.’ When directors get out-of-date, it’s not pretty.”
So, it is obvious that the renowned director would step away after The Movie Critic. Although not much about the movie has been revealed yet, it is speculated that his last movie would not be similar to his previous movies. After all, it is based on a movie critic.
Earlier, in an interview with the French outlet Liberation, the director said that The Movie Critic is similar to “Travis Bickle [Robert De Niro’s character in Taxi Driver] if he were a film critic.”
Much of the movie is still under wraps as the director is yet to reveal the cast and release date of the movie.
