The positive reviews from critics and fans, as well as the festive weekend, brought unexpected good news for the movie despite going against the colossal Avatar franchise. The DreamWorks animated film hopes to bring the studio more cash in the coming weeks. Its biggest new market is Australia, where it made over $3 million, followed by Central America with close to $2 million, and Vietnam with $700,000.

Meanwhile, Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water reached another milestone and crossed $1.37 billion at the end of Sunday. The fantasy movie is one of the biggest and most-anticipated films of 2022. The plans for its future sequels have already been laid out and confirmed for release in the coming years. Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait long as Cameron has simultaneously filmed Avatar 3 and 4 with The Way of Water.
