A new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC is ready to renew the experience of trainers around the world who are still enjoying the newest game in the beloved Pocket Monsters franchise.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet originally featured a variety of diverse new Pokémon to be discovered, captured and added to your collection. The new The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC will double down on this by bringing classic creatures into the game who were not included when Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was first released.
More Classic Monsters Return in a Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet innovated mechanics by taking place in the open-world region of Paldea, located on the Iberian Peninsula, with 3 separate campaigns from which players could choose.
Critics were divided at the time, as some praised the title for its interesting narrative and spin on the open-world formula and others criticized it for its graphical and technical problems. Regardless of reviews, 10 million copies were sold in its first three days marking it Nintendo’s biggest launch ever and the fourth best-selling Pokémon game of all time.
The Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, was announced in February 2023 at the Pokémon Presents event, where players were introduced to a brand new area far from Paldea, as well as an unprecedented collection of creatures.
The DLC is divided into two parts, The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk. In The Teal Mask, players visit the land of Kitakami on a school trip and in the second, a tournament at Blueberry Academy.
The DLC also features new characters including Trainers Carmine and Kieron as seen in official artwork, along with Briar. The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero also has a new item to increase the base point of a Pokémon’s stats or reset them completely in the form of Mochi.
The Teal Mask was released on September 13th and The Indigo Disk is scheduled for the end of this year. The DLC adds the Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti Pokémon that are typical of the Kitakami region and new legendary creatures, Ogerpon and Terapagos.
In addition to the new Pokémon available in the DLC a number of iconic creatures are making a return, with a total of 230 fan favourites set to appear across the expansion.
In the already released The Teal Mask, classic generation one Pokémon, Ninetails and Poliwag are within the expansive list included in the first part of the DLC. The upcoming The Indigo Disk also has some Pokémon that will make players even more notalgic, with Squirtle, Bulbasaur and all their evolutions now included in the game.
If you’re a die-hard Pokémon fan, you’ll probably already playing The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero and if not, prepare your Poké Balls to catch some of the most iconic Pokémon of all time in this brand-new DLC.
