Tom Holland has already won hearts globally by portraying the role of friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He continued to explore many characters by working on different projects but his upcoming thriller miniseries, The Crowded Room is very different from his previous works.

The upcoming show is inspired by Daniel Keyes’s 1981 non-fiction novel, The Minds of Billy Milligan. It has completely changed the actor who addressed the same in a new interview with Radio Times.
Tom Holland’s Danny Role in The Crowded Room Changed His Personality
The 27-year-old star, Tom Holland opened up about his experience working in the miniseries, The Crowded Room which majorly affected his personality.
The upcoming show revolves around his character, Danny who is arrested for a shooting in New York City in 1979. As he is interrogated by Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried), the show unveils his mysterious past which unfolds a life-altering revelation.
While the role demanded a physical change to fully morph him into his character, it was much more than what he had done till now. He told the outlet,
“In my career, I’ve always felt like I’ve been very good at leaving work at work, and for the first time with The Crowded Room it really did start bleeding into my personal life.”
He continued,
“And I think a large reason for that is when you make a film, it only takes four months, and that would be considered a long film. But The Crowded Room, it’s 10 months of playing this character, day in and day out. I really did find myself kind of morphing with him in certain moments. And obviously I had that crazy hairstyle.”
It would be difficult for any actor to come out of his character which heavily impacts their personal life. In Holland’s case, he was quite dealing with the same as Danny at many times was seen overpowering his real personality.
It Took a While for Tom Holland to Keep His Character Aside!
He further mentioned that his role was quite challenging but he eventually managed to keep Danny out of his life as the character was not him. He finally figured out to solve his complexity which made him happy.
“I would come home from work and I would see myself in the mirror and I would see him. So it did take a while to figure out how to put him to bed and wake Tom up and get on with my life and be myself. But I figured it out and was very happy and healthy.”
While he has difficulty looking at his bangs which was what he did not like about his character.
“I don’t like my hair being that dark. I really like how my hair is like my mum’s, kind of red. Yeah, it was tough. That was a part of the show that I don’t miss for sure.”
But he put up with it for 10 months while shooting the miniseries which he shared was a rough period even for his beau, Zendaya but they eventually got out of it.
As Holland also serves as an executive producer of the series, it is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on June 9, 2023, with three episodes and then weekly releases thereafter.
