Johnny Depp is one of the most renowned actors in the Hollywood industry who rose to prominence by proving themselves, again and again, both on and off-screen. Though he was charged with domestic abuse against his former wife Amber Heard, that is not what we will be discussing here. Depp’s most renowned, important, and successful role was his portrayal as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, where he starred in all 5 of the movies as its main protagonist… or was he the antagonist? Well, despite numerous ups and downs while making the movies due to Johnny Depp’s peculiar acting, the franchise pulled through tough times and is now a multi-billion dollar franchise.
Pirates of the Caribbean 2 Almost Failed at the Box Office
As we know that the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been a majorly entertaining and successful movie-producing franchise and people have loved every second of all the movies due to Depp’s hilarious acting as Captain Sparrow. But all we know is the success of the franchise and not the hardship it went through to get to be successful. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest producer Jerry Bruckheimer in an interview with ABC News shared that just weeks before the release of the sequel, they faced a major backlash.
The producer shared that the movie was a bit complicated for young viewers after its soft release was done and it was still in its editing process as only a couple of weeks were left before its premiere and they were trimming down the movie as it was a bit long, Bruckheimer said,
“We had a picture that was about 2 hours, 35 minutes, so we had to shape it down to a length where we feel the story works, and so I think the picture runs 2 hours 7 minutes, plus credits. It was a disaster, the kids didn’t like it. We were ready to slit our wrists. We got the liquor out. I’m telling you, we thought our careers were over.”
Though initially, they had some major problems with the movie, they successfully trimmed it down to an appropriate length and received many positive reviews after it was “stitched up” at the production house and had a very successful run at the box office.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest Was Majorly Successful at the Box Office

And rumors are going around that the script for the sixth movie has been in development and an official announcement is expected by the end of this year.
