The James Bond film series started with Sean Connery in the year 1962. The makers of the Bond movies have always selected their lead actor after scrutinizing many artists for this role. One of the most loved actors who played the charming spy was Pierce Brosnan. He came into the world of action thriller movies in the year 1995 and before the Irish actor, Timothy Dalton was playing the part.
An interesting fact is that Dalton and Brosnan both were trying to get into the Bond series at the same time, but due to some reasons, the 70-year-old actor couldn’t make his entry before the British actor.
Pierce Brosnan lost the James Bond role to Timothy Dalton
With the film The Living Daylights, Timothy Dalton made his debut in the James Bond series. The film was released in 1987, and it established the British actor as one of the most beloved Bond actors. Pierce Brosnan was the producers’ initial choice for the lead role in the action/thriller film but because there were some scheduling issues the part was taken to the Irish actor. Sadly, the 1923 actor also had some prior commitments and had to say no to the character with a heavy heart.
After Bronson dismissed the offer the show that he going to film for which was reportedly Remington Steele was canceled by the makers. This allowed him to go back to his James Bond project but soon the makers decided to go ahead with the TV show and it rained on the Irish actor’s parade. Soon Dalton was back in the game as he became free from all the commitments and then he was signed as James Bond for the 1987 movie.
Pierce Brosnan doesn’t care who plays the next James Bond in the upcoming movies
Brosnan has delivered some of the greatest James Bond movies to the viewers. His incredible on-screen charm and acting skills made the movie much more interesting. As the world awaits to know who will be the next Bond after Daniel Craig’s exit from the franchise, the Irish actor had something to say regarding this. During an interview the Mamma Mia actor said,
“I don’t care. It’ll be interesting to see who they get, who the man shall be. Whoever he be, I wish him well.”
The 70-year-old actor’s first movie in the James Bond film series was Golden Eye. It was released on 13 November 1995 and it was directed by Martin Campbell. In the year 1997 he came as a spy in Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is Not Enough was released in 1999. Brosnan’s last Bond movie was Die Another Day which is still one of the greatest installments in the franchise.
