Jessica Chastain has proved herself more than enough times as an actress with her exceptional acting skills and portraying iconic characters. From Zero Dark Thirty to Interstellar, Chastain has been stellar in all of her performances and that is what the people feared.
Starring in the 2023 indie movie titled Memory, the director Michel Franco had been warned against working with the X-Men star. Stating that she was a diva and a nightmare to work with, Jessica Chastain proved all of them wrong by being just the best actress out there without any special treatment!
Jessica Chastain Doesn’t Need Any Special Treatments
The iconic actress won her Oscar for the 2021 movie titled The Eyes of Tammy Faye. During that time, she was in talks to star in the role of Sylvia in Michel Franco’s indie movie Memory. With her Oscar win, people surrounding the director warned him that Chastain would behave very differently now that she won an Oscar.
In an interview with IndieWire, the actress stated that she had heard all these rumors but gave her account of the story. Stating that she did not have a trailer park, Chastain proved that she was happy by just starring in the movie and no other special treatments.
“Because I have been doing bigger things sometimes and have gotten a lot of attention as of late, [there’s been the idea] that I would not be interested in being on a set without a trailer. We had the Oscars, and I won for ‘Tammy Faye,’ and then right after that, I showed up on set to do ‘Memory.’ Michel said that a lot of people told him, ‘Oh Jessica is going to leave your film because she just won an Oscar.’”
The director of the movie, Michel Franco took over and continued the conversation,
“Or that she is going to show up and be a nightmare and be a diva. I told them, you don’t know half of it. She’s the opposite. She’s going to show up satisfied, happy, and be productive. People are so afraid of actors. I don’t know why. The worst way to approach an actor or any person is with fear, and if you are pointing in the wrong direction then, yes, all your nightmares will come true.”
Well, Jessica Chastain indeed proved all the people wrong since she stated that she doesn’t need a trailer. Stating that she was an actor and not someone who wanted special treatment, Chastain starred in the indie movie.
Jessica Chastain Doesn’t Do A Movie To Get Pampered
Continuing her pursuit of being one of the finest actresses out there, Chastain plainly stated that movies are not supposed to be pampering or comforting to the actor. In her talk with IndieWire, she stated that if she wanted to get pampered, she would go to a spa rather than a movie set.
“I’m not doing a movie to be pampered. If I want to be pampered, I’ll go to a spa. I’m doing a film to work and to be creative, and I don’t need to sit by myself in a trailer,”
In the end, Michel Franco’s Memory received a rating of 7.1/10 on IMDB. The film was recently released at the Toronto International Film Festival and has already gathered an award to its name.
