The remake of Alone in the Dark, the 1992 cult classic horror game of the same name will now release a few months later on January 16, 2024, and not on October 25 as previously announced. The game was delayed due to the overcrowded October which would have made the game clash with numerous major game releases, for example, Alan Wake 2 and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The publisher of the game THQ Nordic also clarified that the next release window gives them a good amount of time to make sure the game is as perfect as it can be.
Packed October Schedule Delays Alone in the Dark Reboot
The month is October is crazy filled with some big-name game releases that would have been a competition for Alone in the Dark and the publisher delayed the game to avoid getting in the shadow of these games, especially the highly-awaited titles Alan Wake 2 and Spider-Man 2. Publisher THQ Nordic said,
“Our intention is to avoid competing with the wake of Alan’s epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man. We aim to truly remain as Alone In The Dark as possible. To honour this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16, 2024.”
Some of the other games that are coming out this month include Hellboy: Web Of Wyrd, NHL 24, Forza Motorsport, Lords Of The Fallen, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Sonic Superstars, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged, Just Dance 2024, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Ghostrunner 2.
The Release Extension Allows Developers to Perfect Alone in the Dark
Ironically, the game THQ Nordic mentioned, Alan Wake 2 was also delayed to avoid the competition in October but it was just an extension of 10 days from October 17 to October 27. However, This delay will serve as a good chance for publisher THQ Nordic and developer Pieces Interactive to perfect the game as much as possible before it is released. THQ Nordic further stated,
“This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October.”
In the game, Alone in the Dark, Jodie Comer is playing Emily Hartwood and the role of Edward Carnby, the private investigator enlisted by Emily Hartwood when her uncle goes missing is being played by Stranger Things Star David Harbour. The two will try to unravel all the mysteries in the Derceto Manor, a home for those suffering from mental illness.
Alone In The Dark will now be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on January 16, 2024.
