Oscars 2021: Highlights And Complete List Of Winners

The celebrations have started as Hollywood’s biggest night has taken place. The movie industry’s finest from the past 12 months have been honored. See the full list of the winners of the 93rd Academy Awards.

The 93rd Academy Award held at Los Angeles’ Union Station was unlike any other award show. The awards were handed out at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood with no host, no audience, nor face masks for nominees attending the ceremony. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, the Oscars 2021 were organized two months later than usual this year.

Chloé Zhao bagged the award for Best Director, making her the first woman of color, and the second woman ever, to win the award. Her film, Nomadland was awarded the top prize of the night, the Best Picture award. Best Actress was handed to Frances McDormand for playing the lead in the same film. Anthony Hopkins took home the Best Actor award for The Father and created history by becoming the oldest actor to do so.

However, viewers were critically disappointed with Anthony Hopkins winning the Best Actor trophy over the late Chadwick Boseman. The actor, who was nominated for his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, had received the Best Actor award at the Critics Choice, Golden Globes, and Screen Actors Guild awards already this year

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom still picked up two Oscars, with Thomas Vinterberg’s Another Round winning Best International Feature Film. Soul which bagged the best-animated feature award is also Pixar’s first film to feature a Black character in the lead.
