Robert Downey Jr. Took Something From Avengers Set
Unlike many actors, Robert Downey Jr. was not one to shy away from taking mementos from movie sets. The actor went above and beyond when it came to taking mementos from the set of Iron Man. The A-symbol seen on Avengers Center in Avengers: Age of Ultron is now proudly displayed in his office, and he recently shared the fascinating story of how it ended up there during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel.
“In Age of Ultron there is a massive Avengers A which is outside Avengers Center. I have it. I said why is this in England? Send it back to LA, I’ll put it in my office. They’re like seriously? I said yeah yeah, I’ll wait,” Downey Jr. said. I have it! I’m supposed to share it. It’s supposed to move around like an exhibit.”
It remains uncertain if a piece of that exhibit will be featured in the upcoming MCU films, but it’s safe to assume they have a backup somewhere, given the impressive collection. Regardless, having the A-symbol as a memento is undeniably a fantastic keepsake for Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr. Is Ready For Oppenheimer’s Success
While some contend that a character defines an actor’s iconic status, Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal undoubtedly elevated Tony Stark and Iron Man to legendary status within Marvel Studios, paving the way for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s success. After an impressive journey spanning over a decade and numerous films, Downey bid farewell to the franchise in Avengers: Endgame (2019).
Robert Downey Jr., along with his co-star Cillian Murphy, engaged in discussions about their upcoming film, Oppenheimer, including their roles and how they complement each other on-screen. Amidst conversations, Downey Jr. also revealed the driving factor behind his decision to choose this project after departing from his iconic role as Iron Man in the MCU. The reason he cited was:
“There’s themes in this film about being held up in this rarified air for something that you’re so conflicted about, It was … nice to have the pressure off because I let this guy [Murphy] do the heavy lifting, I’d come in and [go] ‘I had four days off. I was just antiquing around Santa Fe. What have you been up to?’ And he’d be like, ‘Uhhh…you wanna run the lines?'”
