There is no doubt that Luffy’s recent Gear 5 power-up in the Wano arc has made him one of the strongest characters in the whole of One Piece. But it begs the question of just how strong is Luffy now after he has unlocked the full potential of his devil fruit.
Apparently, this is a question none needs to wonder about, as the recent chapter itself reveals what power level Luffy stands on right now after he faces an old enemy.
Luffy Now Stands Amongst The Most Powerful Pirates In One Piece
Luffy has achieved the ability to freely manipulate his own body as well as his own environment to an advantage on the battlefield due to his recent transformation. This is something that has made him way stronger than he was before his fight with Kaido.
This is also something that he has acknowledged himself in his recent face-off with none other than Admiral Kizaru in Chapter 1091. Luffy claims “Kizaru!! Compared to two years ago, we’re a hundred times stronger now!!“, which obviously refers to the fact that the Straw Hat Pirates can now easily take on the admiral in contrast to their earlier clash a few years ago.
History Of The Straw Hat Pirates With Admiral Kizaru
As hinted earlier, this is not the first time that the Straw Hat pirates have faced the mighty Kizaru and his extreme mastery of the Pika Pika no Mi fruit. To give context, it was at Sabaody Archipelago two years ago that Luffy attacked a celestial dragon for abusing a mermaid.
This is something that in turn enraged the Marines, which included Admiral Kizaru, who then went after Luffy for attacking the celestial dragon.
Luffy’s claim of being nearly a hundred times stronger than before is not a random claim and is instead a reference to two years ago when before visiting Sabaody Archipelago he talked to an associate of Silver Rayleigh, who claimed that Rayleigh was “a hundred times stronger” than the Staw Hat Pirates at the time.
Luffy’s exclamation to be stronger after all this time hints at how he just might be at the level of Silver Rayleigh, who is one of the legacy characters in One Piece considering he is the one who trained Luffy how to use his haki and was the associate of the iconic pirate king, Gol. D Roger.
