During the promotion of her film Rare Objects, Katie Holmes appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show on her show on Wednesday. The two Hollywood stars discussed fashion and women’s empowerment. The 44-year-old actor turned director revealed how the talk show host Barrymore has inspired her career.
How Drew Barrymore’s Gutsy Move in Hollywood Inspired Katie Holmes
In the show, Drew Barrymore presented a clip from the film showing a glimpse of Holmes’ performance and complimented her. In response, Holmes opened up about how the Charlie’s Angels star’s gutsy move to become a producer has influenced her confidence.
“You know I’m such a fan of yours, and everything you’ve done in your career has been an inspiration and it gives me confidence,” Holmes said.
“When you started producing, it was like, ‘Oh, we can do that. Women can do that.’ And so… thank you,” she praised the talk show host. “You give so much.”
It appears both celebrities were overwhelmed by each other’s response and hugged on the show.

Tom Cruise’s ex-wife Holmes’s fashion has created a buzz on the internet. Showing a photograph of Holmes, Barrymore said, “You’ve broke the internet with such looks as […] the cashmere bralette you were wearing. It looks like you’re contemplating your next move and basically, then you paused the entire world, commenting on your top.” In another photograph Holmes with the “jingle ball look” wearing a top over jeans and sneakers also made a sensation.
Responding to the later photograph from December 2022, the Rare Objects director said that it was like a corset. “So I threw it on with jeans, and I knew I wanted to dance there because I was going with my nephews, so I threw my sneakers on,” Holmes said.
“I thought I looked cool. I felt cool, I felt great,” she added.
The Dawson’s Creek star admits she was shocked seeing how the photograph stirred controversy and divided fans online.
Rare Objects is About Recovering from Trauma
Rare Objects, produced and directed by Holmes is about a woman dealing with mental illness and recovering from trauma which is based on Kathleen Tessaro’s novel of the same name. The movie stars Julia Mayorga, Jim Sturgess, Derek Luke, Jimi Stanton, Gina Jun, Saundra Santiago, Purva Bedi David Finn, and Katie Holmes. Set in New York City, the film attempt to reflect on the multi-ethnic communities with their own set of puzzles to solve to fit into city life.
