It was a truly unbelievable moment for Emma Stone and all her fans when she bagged the prestigious trophy for her role in the musical, La La Land. The Amazing Spider-Man fame was the front-runner for the Best Actress in a Leading Role for the 89th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
As the Cruella fame accepted her award, she thanked everyone from her fellow nominees to her family, director Damien Chazelle, co-star Ryan Gosling and the film’s crew.
La La Land is an American romantic musical film released in 2016. It was written and directed by Damien Chazelle. The musical stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are struggling jazz pianist and aspiring actress, respectively. The duo meets and falls in love while following their dreams in Los Angeles. The movie made a worldwide total of $446.1 million, with a production budget of $30 million.
Stone was nominated for the Oscar award once before for Best Supporting Actress in 2014’s for her movie Birdman but did not win.
Emma Stone Cried Backstage with Brie Larson
Emma Stone was completely overwhelmed by excitement when she received the award for Best Supporting Actress in 2016. She was feeling numb and jokingly said that she would hug the hell out of everyone when the feeling re-entered her body.
Her feeling came gushing when she went backstage. She was greeted by former Oscar winner Brie Larson. Stone stared at Larson for a second and laughed as she said,
“Oh, now I start to cry.”
The two friends became emotional, and tears flowed as they embraced each other. The actresses were surrounded by cameras and photographers at the event, who captured the sweet moment of their hug before they walked off together.
The Marvels star later took to Instagram, where she posted a photo of her and Emma Stone, as she captioned,
“You know what’s better than winning? Watching your friends win.”
