Recalling her parents’ divorce and the absence of a father in their house, the 51-year-old mentioned struggling to forgive her father.
Thus, when the actress witnessed her daughter’s relationship with Will Smith, she realized that she would never be able to fill the void her father created. “I remember going through a stage with Will, watching him father Willow. That was just like, ‘Oh my God, I’ll never have that, ever.’” Smith confessed.
Although Jada Pinkett Smith is happy to have a successful marriage with her husband that offers her children with the presence of a father, she is often reminded of her traumatic childhood through Willow and Will Smith‘s bond. Struggling to control her jealousy over her daughter’s relationship with her father, the 51-year-old confessed, “I had to learn how to stop focusing on what’s not going well”.
